Did anybody like the Pacific Storm?
« on: October 28, 2006, 03:26:27 PM »
Hey not usually a storm bowler but I do have a chance to pick up an old NIB Pacific storm for dirt cheap.  I never heard much about it so I was just wondering if anybody on here had owned one and what they thought about it.  thanks.

I used one for several years. It was a great ball when there was plenty of dry on the back end. Very high RG and high differential. Simple construction by today's designs. It basically had a standard 3-piece construction with an additional puck on the bottom.

One thing about it, on flush pocket hits, it always seemed to deflect just right. As a result, carry was always good for me on the right conditions. On carry-down or long patterns it was no good.

Being that it is approx. 10 years old, I think that use in todays conditions would be limited to broken down conditions or shorter patterns.

any older ball is not designed for today's shot. That said, if you are a power player (revs) then grab it and YOU will be able to use it on MED  or lighter broken shots if you are a weaker player.

I used to like my Pacific Storm but I am not sure how it would work today.  But having said that, I am still using a Visionary Blue Warlock dated 1997 on THS and sometimes it grabs too early.

I would like to find a 15# NIB Pacific Storm and see what it would do.

Not necessarily. I can name many pre 2000 balls that are just as strong as todays stuff. Just because they are older does not mean they are inferior.

yeah... this thing is 16lb and even though I throw 15 I'll probably pick it up.  I can use 16 if I have to.  Hopefully the ball will work well for me.  I'm not what I'd call a power player, but I can put some revs on the ball when I need to.  so should end up being a good ball for me for drier lanes.  thanks for the input everyone.
