Has anyone had problems with this ball right out of the box?

I got this ball and it is drilled fairly aggressive (dont ask me specifics because I dont know all that). It doesnt hook nearly as much as I expected. That being said---I have 3 teammates say that "Just get some games on the ball and youll love it". Is this true? Does the X Factor get better with age or should I just sell it with about 10 games on it. As it is, the ball is allergic to oil. I have to find dry with it which is not what I wanted. I have a couple balls to play when the lanes are dry. I dont want to throw something aggressive in the track. I haev my Super Powers and they outhook this ball easily and they arent drilled strong at all.

Any help or opinions is greatly appreciated. NOTHUMB

Well, you've confused me. The ball is a high gloss resin pearl. All the reviews, both amateurs here, and the professionals at BJI and BTM magazines, indicate it is not an oiler of any magnitude. Being a resin pearl, no matter what core it has, it needs to find dry to make any turn. Did someone convince you this ball would hook on oil?

Given the above, almost every bowler I know using the X-Factor in my area has either allowed it to become and stay slightly dulled or has taken the shine off it with the VERY GENTLE use of a nylon pad.

No matter which other balls have come out, the Inferno and this ball, the original X-Factor are THE balls being used by both skilled and amateur alike.

Mine was only good for deep inside shots, with plenty of dry on the back end...

Of course, I sold mine. Not a good fit for me with the layout the ball had...

OK, well Nothumb,

When i first had my Xfactor drilled it was set up with the pin about 3/4inch above the fingers with 3.84top weight and the CG slightly off parallel with the Pin to give it a strong reaction, And i left it in outa box condition.

Well for the first three weeks this ball on any regular house condition the ball would miss pocket unless i rocket'd the ball hard and played over 4th arrow out to board 5.

Well after a tournament in which i play' on synthetic lanes the ball worked great, started playing 15-10 and didnt move any deeper than 4th arrow on a 4 game qualifier moving every game. And i ended up going +142 for 4 games. And then the ball tamed down, i dont know if it was because the ball needed to be broken in, or what, but now this ball is my GO TO BALL, on any condition.

I mean i can play up 2nd arrow on a house shot, and if the track burns out i can go deeper and not hafta worry about the ball not making it back to the pocket. And when the ball tamed down, i hit the ball up with 800 grit to give it a best of both world reaction, it still has backend and gets down the lane.

So for me i love the ball since it tamed down. And i am not a stroker, i am a high rev person with 20+ mph speed.

NOTHUMB, been slinging STORM since about '92.

I have found that they are not tremendous out the box normally, they need a few games. Maybe those few games allow the bowler to see what the piece really does. DON'T mess with the surface like a left hander. Throw it in it's out-of-the-box surface and break it in. My X-Factor broke in after I had about 15 games and then it had more backend then anything else I had. Might want to try not maxxing it out either, that's causing the ball to expend it's energy prior to hitting the break point. In turn, your getting less reaction.
