Title: Medium Oil Ball
Post by: xxxxxxxxxxxx MR300 on January 01, 2009, 03:22:05 AM
I need to get a ball for medium oil. Look at my arsenal and try to reccommend me a medium oil ball that is smooth. My thought was a Hy-Road. But you guys can reccommend me one. For some extra help watch my videos. The first two are on Heavy oil 42ft. The second is on a heavy oil pattern. Not sure how many feet. Secret Agent polished in all 3 videos.

Rapid Fire Pearl.  I know a guy that has two drilled differently (one pin up and one pin down).  These balls roll extremely well.  IMO...an overlooked ball that Storm has since everyone goes for the Dimension and now the Virtual Gravity.

forgot to mention that these videos are a year old and at that time I had bowled for a year. Now I am finishing two years next month. My avg. in the videos is about 165. It is 178 now.

    for medium oil,

i'll choose betwen HyRoad (hybrid coverstock) or Rapid Fire Pearl (pearlized covertsock).

    Any Roads = better control
    Any Fire = better backend

Style : between Stroker & Tweener
    speed :  slow-medium
    rpm : medium

Rapid fire solid. Its under the Gravity and is a great ball. FYI, I have the Gravity, Rapid fire and the Rapid fire pearl and this is also the order of their strength for me.

You are a 170 bowler with 5 count 'em 5 bowling balls?

With those 2 revs you get on the ball that I saw in your videos what do you need a medium ball for?

Save your money and take some bowling lessons.

You need to learn how to bowl first.

According to his profile he's 12 years old, and this is what you say to him?  Wow, impressive.

12 years old and throws the ball like that.  I love it!  You remind me a little bit of myself when I was about 14-15 years old.  Only difference, I was a little more smooth, with a much lower backswing, and a little more revs and speed.  You throw the ball pretty well though.

If you keep working at this game, I would like to see what you become in about 5-10 years.

As far as a medium oil ball, I would probably suggest the Hy Road.  The price is pretty decent, and the ball is great.  I have one, pin under the ring, cg kicked to the left, and the polish knocked off.  It is pretty smooth.

I would go with the Hyroad.  I have seen the Rfp to be hit and miss with bowlers.  If you really like the core of the Rfp, I would consider the solid.

I forgot to read your profile first, the core won't matter until 14lbs.

If you are looking for a 'smooth' medium ball the best in the Storm lineup is the Rapid Fire Solid.  The Hy-Road is also relatively smooth as well.

Another idea for you is to get a T-Road Solid and sand it up to 4000 Abralon.  I love that ball as a step down from a Dimension.
