Most confusing shape to fill
« on: July 29, 2018, 12:17:27 PM »
I've hunted for this piece for a season now and have yet to find it. Our league shot plays to where a Phaze II has too much cover to push downlane with enough energy and the Marvel Pearl is too soft on the backend.

Maybe polish the Phaze II? The Code Black is a little too clean with R2S Pearl. Since I personally can't find something in the current line for Stormand RG, here's my hopes for some September releases.

HP3 release - Idol core with a pearl or hybrid cover that's weaker than TX-16 and faster response than R2X.

Master release - Phaze II core with similar cover as described above.

Thunder release - R2S Solid with a new core that gets it moving on the backend.

Sorta just thinking out loud but open discussion to my solution or these September release hopes?

Venom Shock. Cleaner than the Phaze II, about 3-4 boards weaker, but the pop you need when the MP wiggles.

The boomy thunder line solid you mentioned is what the Rocketship was. I know that ball wasn't very popular, but I'm a fan. Also, have you decided the Code X is out of the question? That one will not grab the oil as hard and you could alwayd tune it to fit better.

Code X is still on the table. Haven't pulled the trigger on it yet.

Yeah, I'm not seeing a real clean fit with the options from Storm and Roto Grip.

I think you might like the Rhodman Pearl for that slot. Logix as well, maybe the Ultra Heat. Affinity and the Kinetic balls (disregarding the Ruby) might be a shade too weak. I know nothing about the Saber Pearl.

Lethal Paranoia would be pretty nice too if you're looking for a bit more on the back-end compared to others in that slot.

The Tenacity has been pretty well-received from what I've gathered. Creed Revelation could be close. Radical has the Katana and Katana Slash for the upper-end of the spectrum.

If that shape is something you need I would go for one out there on the market now rather than wait and see if Storm releases it. And if they do release it gamble on it doing what it actually should.

Good stuff Coor! Rhodman Pearl has caught my eye here and there. I've passed on it so far because I figured it would overlap with the Marvel Pearl too much, but I could be wrong. I've seen the Katana and Katana Slash in person and those things definitely have some backend to them! Definitely look like an option.

In the "old" days we would say you have to learn to adapt.   In other words, trying filling in those "gaps" by adjustments using physical skill.

Oops, forgot, physical skill is so outdated now.  The game today is buy more balls.

Lol ok.

Venom Shock. Cleaner than the Phaze II, about 3-4 boards weaker, but the pop you need when the MP wiggles.

Hmm..  I honestly don't know why I haven't tried one of them yet.

If the Marvel Pearl is too soft on backend, try a HyRoad.

Venom Shock imo is the kind of ball you buy just because you need one and don't worry about the overlap.  Only Motiv I own but pick of the litter everyone says.  Great house shot ball.  Deceptively strong ball for me at least.

I was looking through this just thinking "what about Hybrids?". Gotta love the Badger!!

Badger or maybe a Storm Drive? Or an Intense fire would be sure to turn that corner.

If the Marvel Pearl is too soft on backend, try a HyRoad.

IDK the coefficient of restitution of the 2 piece could possibly prove other wise  ;) both similar/great balls anyways.

Both two pieces though.

It's kind of funny. I love the Hy-Road Pearl. Favorite ball of all time. Yet, I've never tried the OG Hy-Road.

Badger can handle more oil from what I have heard which might help the OP and heard its darn good.  That said Hy-Road is the GOAT (perfect core cover synergy on house shot) though so always quick to recommend (my first out of bag on house shot).
