Title: My new toys..

Deranged and Disturbed
(https://www.ballreviews.com/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi890.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fac110%2F_billdozer%2FMobile%2520Uploads%2FDisturbedandDeranged_zpsf79e416e.jpg&hash=6e47cd099682f477d91678046a3dc9472497a8ee) (http://s890.photobucket.com/user/_billdozer/media/Mobile%20Uploads/DisturbedandDeranged_zpsf79e416e.jpg.html)

These two are exactly as expected,  great duo...I'm just late to the party.

Optimus and Freak'n Frantic
(https://www.ballreviews.com/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi890.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fac110%2F_billdozer%2FMobile%2520Uploads%2F20140730_213816_zps06b3a4b3.jpg&hash=57adc1dd2424ed77ac2d8c8bbf1a3985631e3668) (http://s890.photobucket.com/user/_billdozer/media/Mobile%20Uploads/20140730_213816_zps06b3a4b3.jpg.html)

The Optimus is just fun to throw...I needed more help with this layout as I failed with the marvel pearl (drilled with my favorite layout)...I modified my favorite layout just a touch and it rolls like a champ!

My frantic was too rolly, so I made this one go a Lil bit longer....

Coming soon...Wrecker #2, Zero Gravity, !Q Tour Fusion..
Christmas in July baby!

Hey Bill,  what layout did you put on the Optimus?
Title: Re: My new toys..

Lot of label drills, didn't think you'd drill balls like that.

I do my symmetricals for control...if I don't I get a very over under reaction if that makes sense.  I have a slow to medium speed ..15 mph....everything hooks on me.

It gives me an even amount of everything, length, midlane, flip,...

I usually do 4x4x2's on all of my assym's...

Drilled both disturbed and dederanged same as what you did.
Deranged was smooth until a track formed causing to become very angular at breakpoint but carry is still great. Disturbed getting weeker requiring more surface. Both cracked around thumb.
My old critical is still great, shot 290 yesterday with a stone 9 on first ball.

Keep us updated on how they roll. I would like to hear more about the Optimus! Especially compared to the Hy Road Pearl.

I have every thing except for a hyroad pearl.
I drilled mine to match my beloved second dimension..I get more mid lane with it and a nice crisp move off the dry.

The HyRoad Pearl is longer and more angular than the Optimus.

you better crush your optimus with at least 4000 abralon.  Mine puked downlane until i finally cracked that factory finish.

I will repeat my optimus rolls like a champ.  I use it on the right lane surface at the right time.

It was solid on Wednesday... 269, 269...bagged it for the 3rd game...

That was my mistake with the marvel pearl. I expected it to be something it wasn't.  I punched my optimus to be what it is intended to be..

Well, told ya the the optimus rolled well.  Game 5 on this beast, I shot 300...

No clue why I loved the marvel solid and modern marvel..

Hated the marvel pearl...but LOVE the optimus..

Can a brother get some R2X solid on this core, k, thanks, bye...

Emotions... Obviously you enjoy playing with bowlers emotions...

Nah, NRG is usually too much.  I guess you didn't have a marvel-s, it was too much most of the time.  And if the ball doesn't stay in the product line...it didn't do so hot, lol.

Now the marvel? That's a different story.

Gimme some R2X solid!

I did indeed have the Marvel-S. And it is still in the product line. The only 2 balls not in the line this season that were available last year is the Reign of Power and Sync, which were each produced for roughly 16 months.

If you drilled a Marvel-S anything like the balls you provided in this thread, I can see why you think that way.

Get my Optimus tomorrow night, bill, kinda thinking I did the same thing with my Lucid that you did with your Marvel Pearl. I think I had it punched to do something it wasn't meant to do. Think I'm just gonna put a 4x4X2 on it and let it do it's thing.

R2X on the centripetal core > NRG on the centripetal core

I did what the Richardson did in the bowlersmart video.  Everyone else's optimus rolled like a turd in videos, everyone but richardson
And belmo videos.

I don't mean to be a jerk, 90% of the optimus videos made the ball look bad.

The people I've found to have the most success with the Optimus were highspeed/rev players. The weaker handed people I've watched roll it had lots of over/under... When it rolls into the pocket though, it finishes extremely well.

Yeah, I know what you mean.  Idk I still wasn't impressed by ANY website video besides bowlersmart. If you watch em, you will what I am getting at.

I've seen the opposite so far. I've seen the higher speed/rev guys struggle with over under because they don't understand that hitting the cover with a pad to remove the shine will help the ball start up just a little sooner.
The lower speed and rev have had good success by me

Your layout and the one in the BowlersMart video are not the same. Unless one of you has a weird PAP. I find it hard to believe a layout like yours vs a layout like the one in the video offers the same motion. Your layout is a variation of stacked leverage, the one in the video is pin over the bridge. Again, I honestly didn't think people still used label layouts, especially you.

No offense, I just thought you were above those type of layouts.

"Those" types of layouts provide control for me, I have drilled everything there is to try...I said screw it a long time ago, and drill what I am consistent with.  I have a really slow ball speed with medium revs...symmeticals with a pin near (pin up or down) my centerline roll like turds for me, I would bring up cg....in or out but it don't matter.  I do best with no x-holes too, I guess that makes me terrible too.

This is all my older stuff when I was a Lil more experimental.  I figured out what works for me, and stuck to it.  There's no shame in my game.

how does that freakin  frantic roll for you.,I have one stashed away was thinking about drilling it up. Is it more for a medium or more for light oil?
Title: Re: My new toys..
Post by: billdozer on August 07, 2014, 11:35:36 PM
For me its a medium transitioning into light.  The way the core rolls I do not get much motion unless they are hooking.  This one is definitely a game 3 and I'm feeling lucky ball..

My entire team bought these balls as ”team balls” this year, yeah, we are pretty serious! Haha

The Freakin Frantic has the pin on the centerline.

Of all the Optimus videos I've seen, the ones with a shorter transition time roll better. The ones that have a longer transition time roll earlier and look kinda lazy down lane.

No problemo, bill, appreciate your posts. Helps give me an idea of what I'm gonna do. I seem to do real well with stronger pearls, so the Lucid was a mystery to me and I wasn't too impressed with some of the Optimus vids either. Can't wait to try it out though... :o

I absolutely love my LightsOut, and I use it more than any ball I have.  Love the shape, reaction, predictability...  I don't fare well with strong solids.  I have a fairly slow ball speed (12-13) with medium revs, more up the back, smooth.  Do you guys think an Optimus would be a good choice to go above the LightsOut?  I can play with the surface too.  Any other recommendations?

Artimust,
Either that or a IQ tour pearl..or a roto hysteria

Hysteria! Being a solid, it takes surface extremely well. Easy length and rolls phenomenal. My favorite piece in the bag right now.

Only recommended the hysteria because I really like my shout 2012 (also a polished solid)...and everyone seems to really really dig that hysteria, it must be the 'New Thing'...
