Can a ball start out as a dud?
« on: January 18, 2004, 08:06:33 AM »
I have had my fear factor for a few weeks, but didn't use it much because it doesn't hook in med-heavy or heavier. It more of a good med-light oil ball, but that is not what I got it for. I have already talked to my proshop and he said it is not the drilling. It never felt tacky either, ever. Can a ball just be a dud?

I think maybe, just maybe you don't realize how much oil you really have to have to use the FF properly. Several local users are also using it on not enough oil and the ball does not hook much at all and does not appear to have a lot of hitting power.

Some balls, like this, need a lot of oil to come alive and some will never hook a lot because they grab the lanes so early. YOu may want to try another medium-heavy oil ball for this condition. ALso you could have it drilled too strongly. Just guessing here, but a tell-tale sign is when weak balls hook more than oil balls such as the FF.

Yeah, my pro shop told me it is drilled very strong, maybe I should try it on some more heavier conditions.
