Box Surface of Hy-Road

Hey all, I have a quick question... I am going to resurface my Hy-road, I know the box is 1500 polished... I dont have 1500 at the moment, and was thinking of doing either 1000 polished or 2000 polished. what would you guys recommend? I am up to any other surface suggestions. I am going to use this probably as my benchmark ball if that helps.

Is the process different for different balls?  Storm tech gave me different instructions for my rapid fire solid and it has the same 1500 grit polish finish as other storm balls.

I've used Storms suggested technique on all my bowling balls,including non-Storm equiptment.Works well for me.Remember its JUST a bowling ball.

I've used the process on non storm equpment as well.  I worked on my friends black widow bite and vibe and he loves the reaction.

Here is the instructions from Mike from Storm

That ball was 1500 grit polished,
 
Here is the process for 1500 grit factory finish,
 
500 grit Abralon pad – sand for 15 seconds on 4 sides of the ball
Grey scotch Brite pad – sand for 40 seconds on 4 sides of the ball
Storm Step Two finishing compound – polish lightly for 15 seconds on 2 sides of the ball
 
It is best to use this process on a ball spinner and when first doing this, use new pads.

That seems to differ from everyone elses posts.

If you have storm step 2  I have found using:

500 for about 20 seconds a side

then use storm step 2 and "step" it up by using small amounts until the ball is shiney like it comes OOB. works every single time!


if you use a grey pad you can easily shine the ball up too much and raise the underlying grit. its just my opinion and what I have found to work. but for right now my experience says 500 straight to step 2 is the way to go.


if you have NO step 2 then 2000 plus polish is kinda close. but who knows truly if it should be 2000 or 3000. probably 3000 but I''m not 100% sure on that, seems like more surface to me.
