Need a new ball..Fringe?
« on: September 28, 2012, 03:14:12 PM »
Hey guys, I'm in need of a ball I can use when the lanes begin to break down that will get down lane and have a strong back end reaction. I'm thinking as of now that the fringe is looking like a good candidate. What do you guys think of the ball?

What is your first ball out of the bag and how much are the lanes transitioning?

First ball is my Nano pearl. Last year, I could use this ball all three games moving about three boards the whole night. This year, mid way through first game I'm moving three boards. So quite a bit. The lanes were drying out to the point where I took out my dad's old Columbia Xtreme Chaos which I thought was dead and it moved for me haha.

The Fringe could work well.  Depending on how strong the Nano Pearl is drilled, there could be enough separation between the two for the Fringe to be a good step-down option.

Talk to your pro shop guy.  He should be able to give you a good opinion on how to drill it up to compliment the Nano Pearl.

Think about a crossroad or fire road. Im just afraid that with you throwing a Nano Pearl which is an earlier rolling ball that a fringe my be too weak and create too much separation.

the roads series, except for the victory road solid, is weaker than the fringe. i would recommend a tropical heat. the ball is a tank when the lanes dry up.

Fringe= 2fast. Same core/cover different name. How is that stronger than every road ball ever made except for one? Just curious.

If you like pearls, then your step downs would be in this order:
Marvel Pearl
Victory Road or Fire Road
Fringe
Tropical Heat Orange/Purple
Tropical Breeze Blue/Silver

Okay, I see what you mean. I just want something that will get down lane and have a strong back end move. Sharp yet controllable. Now that you guys mention the cross road and victory road, I'm liking the move of the victory road (pearl that is). I'm not sure though, its a tough decision. All seem like great options.

The fringe has been hit or miss around NY (a HUGE miss for me personally, which made no sense because I loved my 2fast) ... on the other hand, the victory road pearl hasn't been hated by anyone it seems. That could be the ball you need based on what you've said you're looking for.

Strangely, I agree with this, as it's been a hit or miss ball down here as well.  However, it's been a hit for me.

+1. The 2fast was the same. I only know 4 people who liked a combo of both balls. 2 people like the 2fast, 2 liked the Fringe. The ball is just really squirty of the spot in oil and jumpy off the the dry. Only the guys who get in deep to the cheap seats love the ball.

Alright, well you guys have me completely off of the fringe train. Sounds like its too much of a toss up. I guess now I'm liking the VR pearl like said above. Is there much difference between that and the Fire Road? I like the back end motion the VR has, seems real snappy.
