Title: Need dryer lane ball to go with a Crossroads
Post by: duvallite on September 05, 2014, 10:05:36 PM
I need a ball recommendation for dryer lanes for my wife.  She loves her Crossroads drilled pin up, but if the heads and mids are too dry, then she really struggles and can't keep it from going high or usually brooklyn.  She has slow speed, about 11 mph or less at the pins, and has high tilt, so she naturally gets a lot of ball movement, and throws 13lb. balls.  She is not real good at moving in deep, and usually plays a small swing shot around the 2nd arrow.

What would be a good ball choice to help her out that would react similar to her Crossroads, but on much dryer lanes?

A breeze.

I ball down to an uproar and then if it is really dry scream or shout (polished) from roto...both work well.

My uproar likes the track area...
I can get deep with the shout..

You need to ask your pro shop operator, they should know her game.

However, the scream, breeze and super natural should be better than the crossroad on drier lanes.

Why not a Natural?  I have successfully drilled up a few for slower speed/low revolution bowlers who use lighter weights.  Some also like the Lights Out with long Pin-to-PAPS.  Just my opinion if she wants to stay in the Storm line.

I like Pat's suggestion.  Natural or SuperNatural.  Storm has the best urethane-resin capability right now.  Get surface to match up well and not have to move inside as far out of a bowlers comfort zone on house light condition patterns.

Problem with urethane is they can be a little too early in their reaction.  If the problem area is the heads or the mids, then I would be worried about early hook out of a urethane, especially with slow ball speed.  The SuperNatural might be a good option, but I would lean more to the Breeze line of balls.

The Breeze line looks good.  Out of the solid, pearl, or hybrid, which might be the better choice for her (I forgot to say the lanes are synthetics).  I'm thinking hybrid or pearl, and drill it the same as her Crossroads.
