Anybody shined their IQ Tour to get a different look?
« on: December 10, 2014, 10:49:52 AM »
I currently have the IQ Tour and Fusion. Trying to separate the 2 ball reactions a little bit. Right now they are very close to the same reaction. I have both balls at OOB condition. I was hoping if I shine up the Tour it will fit in between my Fusion and Hy road Pearl. Right now the Tour hardly gets used. Too dull to play out and just doesn't have enough pop to play in. The Fusion is great for me to move in with and still get corners out. I just hate having a great ball and never any use for it. Thanks for your opinions.

I would have to see you throw both side by side to say for sure, but I would actually think that polishing the solid would make it closer to the Fusion, not further away. I have both balls. For me, the solid is much earlier than the Fusion, and it lays off more on the back end. I don't use the solid very much during league because it doesn't give me the right shape to take advantage of the wide-open conditions; however, it is fantastic when the lanes are tighter and I need read and control.

As such, I think that polishing up the solid will succeed in making it more useable than it probably is right now for you, but I also think it will make it react very much like the Fusion.

Had my pro shop guy shine my IQ Tour and loved the reaction.  Exactly what I was looking for. Much more length then before. Gave me more room and didn't hook too early when it hit some dry. Ball hits like a truck. I wasn't really able to use it OOB on my house shot.  Too wet/dry of a condition. Too much hook for out and not enough pop to play in. Shining it was definitely the answer for me.

Well, that's all that really matters in the end. I'm curious though; how does it now react in comparison to your Fusion?

Fusion was sooner then shined up IQ Tour and much more backend. You probably will find this hard to believe but the shined up Tour reminded of my old Tropical Heat Hybrid. Smooth as silk with great hitting power. I can see me using this ball now on most conditions.

Wow. If a polished up IQ Tour Solid truly reacted like the old Tropical Heat Hybrid, I would shine mine up immediately. I loved the Tropical Heat Hybrid. Sadly, mine cracked in half about a week after I shot 300 with it.  >:(

As for the reaction of the polished solid versus the Fusion, I'm not surprised that the Fusion had more back end, but I am a bit surprised that it was earlier. Then again, it really depends upon the grits you used and how much polish you applied. In any event, it sounds like you found the reaction you wanted, and that's what it's all about!
