never seen this
« on: July 22, 2003, 07:57:19 AM »
anyone here inconterd this before.
my house just redone there lanes. first night back in 2 weeks.
started out using my x-factor normal shot slight swing strait in the gutter.
went to the duece moved out a couple of boards more revs. the ball slide all the way through the pins. i moved outside up the back of the ball complete flip right through the nose.

here is the question?

there was not a drop of oil on my ball all night. the shot stayed the same all night. everyone strugled. i was like thay waxed the lanes insted of oiling the lanes is there a new type of oil that will do this.

if so i have to relearn how to bowl.

Are the lanes wood?
If so, and they actually sanded and resurfaced, instead of just screening (applying new finish), this could be a completely normal condition.
I know the house I bowl at in the summer did a major resurface, and I haven't hit near my average since. It's getting better - it's been about 2 months now, but it's ugly.
and - although the shot seems really oily, I'm not getting much back on my ball either!
I can't explain why, but I've seen it too.

Bowling? Of course it's a sport.

If they are wood and they did a complete resurface it takes about a week for the finsh to fully cure. During that first week the house can not strip the lanes, therefore you will have massive carrydown. After the first week then the house can begin doing a full strip and oil. So for the first week you will probably see lower scores shot and "squirty" conditions. They are doing a full resurface on our house next weekend.

My house recently did this as well.  We were struggling to break 150, and most of us bowl, on house conditions in the 200s.  With 10 people bowling, there's generally three scores over 230, but that night, in one game, the high score was 150, with my score of 128 being second highest.

Our house has been completely different.  They just did a complete resurface and man every ball I throw is hooking right out of the center what could that be from.  I am told by the lane man that even though they change paterns quite often they have not changed the amount of oil they are putting down.

Well i dont think i have ever encountered this before, because most of the houses around my area resurface the lanes in the summer when its slow.  But what i would do is just grab a older ball u like, and sand it down to 400. and play up 2nd arrow.
