help with ball arsenal
« on: January 04, 2014, 02:47:48 PM »
Trying to come up with a solid ball rotation so I know which way to go when I have to switch balls.  I grew up in a 2 ball arsenal so you will have to bear with me. I have yet to use the same ball for all 3 games this year. 1 house is synthetic and the other wood.  These are the balls I have to choose from. All drilled similar with pin up above ring finger.   Disturbed ,Nano pearl, IQ Tour pearl ,Shined up Oath( pin down ), tropical Heat Hybrid (black/purple) Hyroad pearl.  all are out of box finish except for Oath. 6 balls total.  I really only want to bring 5 total including my plastic spare ball. So i guess I am asking what 4 would be right so I can weed some out. Need to start with a benchmark and get a good read off that ball and switch from there. Some tournaments coming later in year so I want to get this straightened out.  Thanks guys!

Without knowing your stats or which ball you throw the most, we're pissing in the wind. If i had to, Disturbed, Hy-Road pearl, Tropical Heat, and Nano pearl. Those would be the 4 that would make sense. The others just seem to be overlap. Again, this is just all speculation.

i was thinking start with IQ Tour Pearl and go up to Nano pearl  or if not enough hook go up more to Disturbed. If IQ Tour pearl is too much, ball down to Hy Road Pearl. If Hy Road Pearl hooks too much use spare ball. Another thought is shine Tropical Heat and use as spare ball and leave plastic at home. That would give me a pretty good 5 ball arsenal. Trying to avoid taking 6 balls to my league nights.

This may come across as me being a weiner, but the fact that you state going from a Hyroad Pearl to plastic tells me you have major limitations in your physical game. I'd strongly suggest some coaching instead of balls.

Plastic for spares my friend. Like everybody else throws at them. I have multible 800s and 300s to my credit including a 832 in 1988 with a plastic black knight. It was 3rd high in USA that year when shooting 800 meant something.

what's the difference? If you're going with 5 you might as well take 6. Why do you need five balls for THS?

I bowl in 5 different houses during the week. All just a little bit different. Also bowling in some tournaments soon.  I just want a good starting ball that I can good a good read on what the lanes are doing.  It looks like the IQ Tour pearl is that ball for me. Depending on what I see it doing I can either ball up or down from there. Disturbed would be more hook while Hy Road Pearl would be less. I would love to use the same ball for all 3 games but that doesn't happen much anymore.

I would carry what works well in the house that night of bowling. I carry a 3 ball arsenal to everything now except tournaments. Just change out the balls from night to night. It Just keeps me from having a bunch of options that I think will work, instead of what I know does.
