Need a ball for a drier condition
« on: November 08, 2006, 04:03:41 AM »
I am bowling in a league that seems to have forgot to put oil on the lanes before league starts.  I have no problem adjusting, but I can't really move much further left (I am a righty).  The ball I am using now is a Power Charge Pearl which is a great ball for me when it starts to dry out.  I also have a Barbed Wire which works well when it gets drier, but hits like a marshmellow.  So, my question is, what ball would be good after my Charge?  Thanks in advance.

Jolt Pearl my buddy shot over 800 with it a few weeks ago, ball has nice backend for lighter oil ball.

I agree with the Jolt Pearl. Although I didn't shoot an 800+ with mine, I did get a 689.

I like it when they are a little drier, or after the league of seniors I follow who all throw straight plastic balls. It reads well on the zebra pattern (Zebra = a league of older people all throwing straight plastic balls, and never hitting the same spot. The result is a pattern of oily - dry - oily - dry)

I guess it all depends on how you mean by dry.  We have a house that I bowl in that doesn't put much oil out there either, but my Jolt Pearl hooks too much there.  Its tame enough to get down the lane, but at the break point, the ball just takes a left turn.  I have a tropical storm that work much better on that type of condition, as it does not charge so hard off the dry.  Just my 2 cents, hope it helps.

OK, thanks for your help.  When I say dry, I mean that I am standing almost on the ball return and throwing over the middle arrow out to around 5 - 7 and it still comes screaming back.  I will look into the Jolt Pearl.  Anymore advice from anyone else would be greatly appreciated.  Thank you very much.

Jolt pearl looks good, but its still got some backend pop, I would say drill it weak if you want to go up the boards, OR put some
"control it" on it.
