prodigy
sym or asym???
2 fast 2 furious
come on..
-
I hope that Prodigy reacts similar to a Gravity Shift.
So much.

Obviously, you aren't a golfer.
Some stayed in the foothills, some washed logs like teeth.
-
The Prodigy is going to be in the Master Line, so I am guessing that it would be a symmetrical core, not asymmetrical like the Gravity Shift was. The Premier Line has all of Storm's asymmetrical pieces to date.
-
Are these overseas releases?

Prodigy should replace my aging Second Dimension and I will get that Black Ice Storm. Not really interested in the 2 Fast or 2 Furious.

This ball looks like it is pretty much a "remake" of the original white team storm that was overseas only. If you notice under the logo''s part of the tech data it has a Belmonte logo on it, which may be the only difference. I know i will be picking one up as soon as they are available!

The core numbers on the 2Fast and 2Furious remind me of the numbers that were on the original Flash point, flood, and flash force. I like the idea of having a stronger cover like the R2S on the hot line balls. This should REALLY make a nice fit for the gap between the reactor on the Tropical heats, and the R2S on the Reign and Reign of Fire. I like the move, although it will be VERY HARD to get the Furious and the Fast out of my bag.
As far as the spare balls go, all of the other big companies offer multiple spare balls. Adding a few options, will allow for different "tastes" to be filled and carry nothing but Storm in the bag.

LOL at the NOS core.

-
I'm not sure I'm a fan of only 3 real releases and some spare balls. It's be nice if instead of the cube the clear spare ball had the jesus core.
-
The NOS core is another recycled core design. I would assume different densities and inverting the core are responsible for the pre-drilled RG and diff. values.
http://www.bowlingballvault.com/companies/8-dynothane/1005-elixir
Not that the age of R&D on a core really affects how the ball plays...
-
This is pretty consistent with what Storm did last year as far as the performance releases go...if i remember correctly they had the Virtual Energy, Fast, Furious, and natural come out last year around bowl expo...followed closely by the reign a month or 2 later. They just added a few more choices on the spare ball side this year.

Brunswick Target Zones, Columbia white dots, Ebonite Maxims, all have multiple colors to their spare balls. Brunswick also has the Viz-a balls. With Storm, not only do you have two different colors to choose from in the Ice Storm, you also have a few different styles as well.

The lack of a decent core in the 12 and 13 pound 2 Fast, and 2 Furious is unfortunate. This will be a sore point when competing with the Brunswick lines.
-
Will they keep the original fast and furious or discontinue them?
-
you know, i made stupid jokes months ago about storm releasing follow ups to the fast and the furious called 2fast and 2furious. I can't believe they actually did it.

Britton is the prodigy asymmetric?
-
quote:
Britton is the prodigy asymmetric?
I'm 99% Sure it is symmetric for 3 reasons
1. As said before, the Master line has typically been Storms high end symmetric pieces...agents, dimensions, etc...
2. The core looks symmetric in the picture
3. There is no mention of intermediate diff on the spec sheet.
I am extremely excited about this release, i absolutely love my second dimensions...one of the most versatile balls on the planet in my eyes...and i love that they are using that cover again on another core
i expect this ball to be able to cover a wide range of conditions with surface changes and a few different layouts just like the second dimension does for me.

Yeah. The core numbers are similar...but it is symmetric and might read the lane a touch earlier. But with the right surface prep and pin placement, this ball is going to kick butt just you watch.

me too on being excited about this ball. I am a huge fan of the 2nd dimension
-
It seems like storm is applying a similar logic that they used to create the reign. They had a good ball and reaction in the T-Road pearl and decided to alter the core shape to provide a slightly different look. Rather than coming up with a whole different concept or a completely different reaction they chose to use their previous success to ensure their future success.
The prodigy has the same proven coverstock of the second dimension, with similar core numbers (lower rg and higher diff).
The 2 fast and 2 furious utilize the same coverstocks as the fast and furious respectively, with similar core numbers (lower rg and higher diff).
Based on the numbers without seeing these balls on the lanes, it seems like storm may be looking for a heavier roll in their line than the previous offerings provided. The decrease in rg and the increase in diff. may be as a result of a perception that their offerings are loping a bit with the constant changes in lane oils (perhaps specifically the changes to the PBA patterns? Although success on PBA patterns doesn't really indicate how the average person will score with a particular ball, the success of staffers certainly plays a role in the public perception of equipment and the overall sales)

The prodigy seems to be a very interesting piece. Always been a big fan of storm's symettric balls. Like you guys said earlier with the 2nd dimension being a versatile and overall solid ball. Hopefully this one will hold it's own and be that "Benchmark" ball that everybody goes to.

NO.
The Prodigy will be a master line ball. The Invasion is in the Premier line. The Prodigy is in the line that has had the Dimensions, and Agent series balls.

I'm just wondering if the Prodigy is the master line "test ball" we threw at the Storm/Kegel seminar. If so the reaction will blow you away.

I'm wondering what effect the 2 Fast and 2 Furious lineup is going to have on the Reign line? Same covers, no? Very similar specs on the cores, no? Why would i want buy a Reign or Reign of fire when i could get a ball of similar performance for $40-$50 less? So what's the purpose here?
The RG is higher on the Reign/Reign of Fire and the cores are completely different. Seems to be enough.

Yep. It's due to the crazy chemical reaction that the coverstocks are created with. Not really a way to avoid it, and as said, all ball companies have this disclaimer.

2 very different ball motions. The Mutant cell pearl makes a very aggressive move, but alot of that movement is down the lane. The Prodigy has more of a huge big sweeping hook type of motion that made the special agent so good.

Is the Prodigy an addition to the Master Line or is the Prodigy replacing the 2nd Dimension? Seems like the former but just want to confirm. What was in the Master Line prior to it?

Dimension and Second Dimension were the last Master Line balls. I am assuming there will be a solid version of the Prodigy some time this year to complete the new line. Same assumption regarding a pearl or hybrid version of the Invasion to round out the Premier Line.
