Title: New Storm Test Balls
Post by: Zman on June 30, 2003, 07:04:38 PM
The driller that drills all of my equipment is on Storm Staff.

He has a new test ball he has been throwing and letting others try.

Looks like a great ball.

It is the color of the old Sky Bolt. Sky Blue swirl pattern.

It has the X Factor weight block looks to be 1500 grit shine.
When you touch the coverstock it feels similar to the old Quantums.
That almost tile like feeling of the Acrlynium covers.

He has the same drill pattern on this as his X Factor Reloaded.
He said this ball out hooks the Reloaded by 10 boards and hits like a truck.

I posted on this ball under the phase topic. The ball is a hook monster. This is probably the best hooking storm ball made. It is very receptive to different releases. On a typical house shot with tons of head oil, you can throw over the left gutter cap out to the right gutter and hook the whole lane.  You can go up the back with speed playing 15 to 10 and hit the pocket very well. The other balls in the test did not hook even close as much as this one. The question is this: will storm release this ball?

Geez, at least they drew the Trauma line out though, 4 X-Factors in 5 months?  That's a little ridiculous.

Forget Kung Fu, I know Ron Bahr!!!

The only difference between youth and adult leagues are that the big boys are allowed to whine.  They're more entertaining anyway.

Given how much this thing hooks, are they gonna call it the "Max Factor?"

And if they did, what would it smell like?

And people are calling Track the ball of the month company right now, but storm seems to be releasing more than them, and using the same cores in alot of the stuff. Not even using modifications. Guess those people do not think Storm is the ball of the month leader because, well, they like Storm.

HM....

I saw a guy using all 4 new X factor test balls.  One was a High Load Particle with a high sheen(The sky blue/White one you are talking about)  A dark blue low load particle, an aggressive Resin one(gave the same look as a polished Duece) and a low aggressive resin one(not an aggressive cover at all, almost like a red hot with x-factor cover)

The sky blue one definately outhooked the rest by 10 or more boards and had the best finish out of all of them.  The low load particle one had the sharpest breakpoint and that might be the Reloaded that is out now.  The low aggressive shell resin didn't wrinkle much at all except when played in the track but it still hit and carried very well despite hardly any angle on the backend at all.  The aggressive resin like I said earlier gave a much similar look to the Duece, just more polished.  That new High Load Particle X Factor will definately turn some heads though, colorwise there's nothing on the market like it and it really saves all of its energy for the backend.

1 maybe 2 at a time.

Lets see, in the last 6 weeks...X Factor Reloaded, Eraser Pearl Particle, Hot Wire, and Power Charge.

alrighty then.

Husky,

I am not real sure if it is early August or late August, but the phenom, triple threat...and if they still come out with the hex darkside, will not be released until then.

It is pretty much what they did last year with the Freak, Mojo, and I think the Spell. Release the ball so the word will be out not long before the fall leagues start. I do not think it is bad strategy. And face it, every company out there is releasing stuff like mad any more. It is something we have to face. They release a few balls at once and if one of them really "blow up" they are happy. Example, Track---the Freak took off....the Mojo did not do as well as I thought it would, and the Spell did about the same as the Mojo. The Freak taking off the way it did brought Track alot of new customers.

Although I am a Storm VIP Shop I am getting a bit disgusted with them recently

Why do they see the need to release so dang many balls? Why are they releasing so many duplicates?

Are the Hot Wire and Hot Rod that much better than the Too Hot and Ultra Hot? Was the Purple Hit needed??? They ditched the 2 reactive Erasers in favor of a new particle that fits between the Boost and the Blaze.

The only non-high priced reactive they have now is the Power Charge.

I see a pretty big drop from the Power Charge down to the Hot Rod....

I understand we all need to make money but this is getting ridiculous. Brunswick got the hint that a Zone a month was a bad thing....they lost a lot of business because of it. Storm take note...we cannot handle all of the new stuff.....

I can understand releasing a ball to fill in a void but the only void Storm now has was created by the discontinuing of the Thunderflash and the Tour Power.....smooth and even controlled motion. They have everything else covered 2-3x over now.

Well I guess you people won't be happy to hear that Storm will be releasing 4 more balls by the end of the summer.  I'll be quiet though on information, I don't want to upset the people that hate the ball of the month club
