Looks like they updated the core for the first time ever in the Tropical, replacing the Camber core with a slightly higher differential core called the Surge.
-
Well, they've had several Tropicals - Tropical, Tropical Breeze, Tropical Heat, etc. To be honest I couldn't really keep them straight in my head.
-
Went from Turbine to Camber, but the numbers were pretty much the same I think. And, there wasn’t a difference between the Tropical Storm, the Tropical Breeze and the Tropical—just name changes.
-
Here's the specs with a pic of the core

Turbine to Cambwr was from 2.55 to 2.57 and .038 to .009. Quite a difference. And the Tropical Storm from 2006 to about 2009 was much different from the Breeze and todays Tropical Storm. It used a 3 piece core instead of the Camber core. Only mentioning because the one from 2006 ish is one of my favorite balls ever vs the Breezes being near the weakest reactive on the market.

I'm for it, wish they would stop doing the same colors.
Someone posted on Facebook and said Brunswick was pouring them? Wtf?

Idk. I'm hoping it was a moron and just finally heard that it's a San Antonio product and maybe got confused.. BUT if Doom is spiking sales so much I could see SA outsourcing the manufacturing 😂😂😂

Basically another chance at the Ride series for those that missed it or want another.

Don't get me excited lol

The Tropical Heat line was a different animal compare to the Tropical Breeze, which became the Tropical! The Heat line rolled amazing and of course stronger. It was replaced by the Ride series and then Match and Match Up! It's nice to see a slightly stronger entry level ball replace the Tropical, or will it? Maybe some insiders can shed more light!

They will be Brunswick poured. Scary to think about the logistics of this one.

Storm puts out so much stuff, no way they would be able to fill all of those pours in Utah.
It doesn't really matter who pours it... the base chemicals and cores are still Storms. It's not like you're gonna start seeing those 1 & Done Brunswick covers on Storm cores.

My point is, Storm is giving Brunswick the ingredients to one of their base covers, Reactor. The R2S, R2X, R3S and whatever other Reactor covers are made up of these base materials. Its almost like giving Plankton the ingredients to the Crabby Patty.

That is what patents are for. Once a ball is released wont stay a trade secret for long. Storm being around and Nu-Line being long gone speak to that. Reactor isn’t exactly cutting edge either but get the joke.

This include being $30 six weeks after release at Buddies? Sorry had to take a Ross dress for less shot.

Just going to say I have a Match Pearl and with only .030 diff and pin up over an inch above my ring it is a beast on a house shot with ONLY Reactor.
Sharper and more dramatic at the breakpoint than my pin next to Punch Out with R2S, I am trying to figure out where to use it!
I have seen these inexpensive Reactor covered balls used at Senior tour events often in a ball down in a second block and the pros just keep striking if not increasing their strike percentage.
This ball looks like it will be go a little straighter initially and may be great at some very wet dry sites.
Only Reactor! Heck some days I love my Monsoon or Accutread covers on our super wet drys shots! Smoother especially with the solid Accutread! Nice on a Hot Wire.

I think I will be getting one of these balls really soon!
-
I think this ball will fill the gap nicely between the Thunder line and the Tropicals. Most of the time the Tropicals are too weak and the Match balls were too much.
-
If this will be a close replacement for the ride, it may have to happen!

Agreed!

I know the ad flyer says 6 different colors and scents but is there a hybrid and pearl version? I can't find a lot out about them but I thought I seen where there was 2 choices

I been on the look out for a replacement for my aging Ride, this may be it! The Ride is my all time favorite ball!

Scroll down on the website page for the Surge, you'll see the six PDF's for each one. Two hybrids and four pearls.
