Help for a buddy of mine
« on: August 20, 2009, 03:02:42 PM »
Alright one of my bowling friends is looking to get a ball to learn on the fly for league. He will be switching from two finger with a house ball to regualr three finger. He has practiced some with my tropical and I think he'll get it down decently quickly. What is a great all around ball for any THS oil level? He only wants to buy one ball and just use it all the time so a entry level ball probably will not be strong enough.

Brand does not matter.

Thanks, Paul

we would need more info such as speed and revs, but without that I would suggest Hyroad or Fast

Yeah I would say his speed is fast. I'm thinking the Columbia Bedlam might be a decent ball for him or possibly the Reign or Hyroad. Thanks for sugestions guys. His revs will be lower until he gets in the swing of things.

I would not recommend a strong pearl for his first ball, they can be real flippy and it might get him into trouble. I would suggest a middle of the road solid. It might benefit him more than a strong pearl.

REALLY?  Then why does the O.P. himself mention the COLUMBIA BEDLAM?

Yeah I posted it here because Storm is what I am most familiar with. But I stated I did not care about what brand people suggested for my friend. This board is a little higher in traffic and thus gets more responses then other boards. Everyone has been pretty helpful.

if you were to bring him into the shop i work at yeah i could tell ya ohh this $220 ball will help him but in all honest i would want to see him throw the ball then start him off with a entry level ball since he is comming off a house ball something like you tropical or a link, bash, jazz balls in that grouping entry but perform more than what there suppose to. take him to a good shop and the driller is interested in helping him more then saling him a ball that will be dead before he really geets the abilities under control. thats just my 2 cents having him start off with a magic touch, sting, big black pearl is not a easy choice in my opinion its setting your friend up with a big hook and he may very well get irritated before he can really use it but the most user friendly ball on the market for any ths would be a ball from the vibe line they can handle a fair ammount of oil as well as when the lanes break down. speed is gonna be a factor as well as revs but like you said hes going from a house ball so placing him in a high performance ball honestly should wait till he developes the right mechanics not tleling him ohh this ball is suppose to be the best on the market it may be but for experienced bowlers not begginers like i said thats my 2 cents. the shop i work ats modo is make a customer happy and make them come back doont sale them crap take there money and shut the door behind em

Who cares?? If his post said Storm Only I would have said Furious, it says brand does not matter so you are the (blank) that cannot read.

I did notice it was in the Storm section and answered the question is that OK with you???

Wow people are really touchy on here. Just because this is the Storm part of the forum doesn't mean everyone on the page thinks every other kind of equipment is irrelivent. Sorry i guess I should have asked for storm only and went around and wasted my time posting on every brand on here the same question.
