Marvel Pearl vs. Reign
« on: November 03, 2011, 12:22:16 AM »
Have a Reign that I love but our house has been throwing out just a touch more oil than they used to so I'm looking for something just a tad stronger on certain nights. How much stronger will the Marvel Pearl be than the Reign for those that have throw both? I don't really want to change the surface of the Reign as it will still be usable on the nights when there's just a tad less oil.

Never argue with an idiot....They'll drag you down to their level and beat you with experience!

The Marvel Pearl is capable of handling quite a bit more oil than the Reign for me. It also starts to rev up a good bit sooner on the lane. Very different motions for me. I can only really use my Reign when the volume of oil is fairly light, but the Marvel Pearl is useful on almost any condition I've seen.

what about a Reign Supreme? same core with slightly stronger hyrbid cover and you could even take the polish off depending on how much more you need

My Arsenal:
Rogue Cell
Bounty
Twisted Fury
Blue Vibe

Marvel pearl starts up quicker on the lane for sure and handles a lot more oil. I agree with different motion on the lane. I have 2 and one of them I hit with 4000 ab and really rolls sweet.

I have a Marvel Pearl and a Reign. As others have said the MP is an earlier and smoother reaction. For me the MP can handle medium to medium-heavy conditions. The Reign is more medium to medium-light conditions and can be squirty on oil which is why I'd never throw it on a medium-heavy condition. Overall I'd say the MP is 5 boards stronger(sometimes more) and can handle a lot more oil.

If you need something just a little stronger(not a lot) I'd think a Victory Road Solid might be a better fit. It's definitely more ball than the Reign but not as much as the MP.
