Title: Paradigm layout

Has anybody tried a 5 X 3 layout on a Paradigm? Storm recommended the layout for me.

I guess if Storm recommended it for you it must be OK.

Don't forget to make sure your driller is familiar with the specialized drilling instructions.  Always follow the instructions with high end asymmetric balls.

I wanted the massive backend reaction I keep seeing with it, but I'm not sure with this layout. The 4 X 4 was also mentioned, but said it could be too early for me; Low revs and slow speed.

Who did you talk to at Storm? I have low revs and slower speed (14-15 mph) and Steve K. recommended the 4 x 4 drilling "A" on their drilling chart. It has a 1 1/2" buffer between the Pin and VAL. My driller felt it best to have a 2 1/2" buffer and drilled it 4 x 4 1/2. On synthetic lanes, this ball gets down the lane and has great "pop" on the back-end.

I have a feeling that with the 5 X 3 it might go too far down lane.

So my question is......

5 X 3 or 4 X 4?

Speed: 14.5 - 15.5 MPH
PAP: 4 1/2 -- 5/8 up"
Tilt: Around 45 degrees

This is replacing my Shock & Awe. I get great midlane but nothing, zip, nada, zilch on the backend.

Since everyone is typing everything but an answer to your question. #1, congratulations for putting down that Shock & Awe. #2, I have a 5x3 Paradigm with a 4" pin buffer. I throw the ball around 18mph with a rev rate to match. For me, standing against the ball return is an everyday thing, so this layout allows me to get the ball to my breakpoint before it unleashes.

5x3 should be good for you as it will help prevent the ball from burning up on you. Good luck and I hope you experience the success I have with mine!

Thanks for replying, but I decided to drill it 3.5" X 3.5" - 1 1/2" pin buffer.
