Agent & Thunderstruck Solid - compare/contrast
« on: September 13, 2007, 06:55:30 AM »

I am wondering for those who have thrown these...

I use my Thunderstruck Solid for about any league shot, but I am also considering an Agent.  From the looks of it, it seems like a beefier Thunderstruck Solid.

My fascination with the Agent comes from the Special Agent which I love but can only use on the heavy oil or PBA patterns.  If I could have that ball to cover normal oil situations.  That would be pretty nice.  I like shape of the reaction of the Special Agent and I feel I can aim or predict things pretty well with it.

I am kind of wondering how the length of these two balls would compare.  The Agent is a pearl, but it has the EMC core...

I am wondering if the Agent would be a good power arcing ball for medium oil.  Of course, I don't really need one but more toys are fun to have.

The agent is a great ball but i am on ball 3 they crack and there is issues with it, my pro shop has gotten me replacements each time but they are very hard to find now. There was only 5 left when i got my replaced last week at the cal bowling supply in vegas.

Yes stronger than the thunderstruck solid on the backend not up front for me at least, it is very arcy for a shiny ball though which is great for control.

I've never had a Storm ball crack so I am not really worried about that.  I am worried about the availability though... Interesting.

You are preaching to the choir.  I am trying to add more beasts to the beastbag.

I am also looking at getting a Shift for the fun factor.

Fluff,

For me I have never been able to match up with my Agent and I am in the process of replacing it with a Domination in order to get more entry angle into the pocket.  I know that many people on these boards matched up with the Agent but for me the cover was always looking for friction at the same time the core wanted to be in it's roll.  It was a condition specific ball for me that was only of use on medium to light blended oil patterns.  Remember your Thunderstruck already has a solid cover so the pearl cover on the Agent wants to go longer.

If I were looking for a Storm ball between a Thunderstruck and a Special Agent I'd look closer at the Shift instead.  The Shift will give you a touch more length from the core and a bit more friction from the coverstock than the Agent.

I love my Agents...I've even picked up a 3rd one.  I have not thrown either of the Thunderstrucks but the could compliment each other.  On my house shot I would assume that there would be enough of a gap between the two for a ball like the T-Road Pearl or Spit Fire.
