Title: Phaze 3 -> IQ Tour hole... New Axiom opportunity?
Post by: AlonzoHarris on June 04, 2020, 04:10:56 PM
Is it just me or is the Phaze 3 to IQ Tour not a glaringly obvious hole for the Storm lineup?

I’d like to see something with the Axiom core and a cover that lets it fill that gap, but I can’t place my finger on which cover to choose. Maybe R2S Hybrid or R2X Solid?

Thoughts?

Yep that’s a hole. Same hole as me. I drilled a 900 Badger Claw. Did the trick pretty good.

The Axiom core is stronger than the Phaze 3 core so I can't see them putting a a ball from that line there.

What's the gap in question? Master line specifically or just something in the whole lineup? If it's the latter I think the All-Road fits in there.

Idol Pro or All Road fits between those.

Master or Thunder really.  I suppose the Idol Pro and Pearl might work but they both seem too close to the Phaze 3. Allroad, or really any road ball with that long lopey core tends to play under my IQ Tour.

There comes time where the Phaze 3 cover just doesn’t like the amount of friction, lack of head oil, etc and the IQ Tour is just not dynamic enough. That’s where I’m seeing taking a 2.48-2.52 RG/ .040-.053 diff symmetrical with a cover under R3S Hybrid.

That lead me to Axiom core 2.48/.050 with a mild cover, to think possibly a more dynamic IQ Tour to slot in there.

Just spitballing ideas really for a new release that would make sense I think.

I'd put a phaze 2 in the bag to fill that gap

Plays above my Phaze 3 already

HyRoad X with the shine taken off? I know you said too lopey which is my experience with the HyRoads as well.

I agree with your ball spec and cover idea. There's no Torrent or Rocket Ship in the lineup at the moment which I think fits that spot with a stronger layout

Had one and sold it. It was ok but never settled in with it.

I have a Pro Motion on the way, going to let it lane shine and see where it falls for me.
