I’ve seen/heard in a few different videos that the Code X is a clone of the Alpha Crux. Is it fair to say, then, that covers really haven’t changed at all in years?

According to the Storm cover strength chart, R2S is one of the weakest covers Storm has. GI-16 is one of the strongest ever. Put a strong asym inside a solid version of either of them, and they seemingly react the same.

It seems like you can create a full top to bottom arsenal with just R2S balls and proper surface.

Hank....keep in mind that these vids are usually shot on THS and that there won't be as much of a difference because of that. But to your question, covers have not changed that much. Just a lot of good marketing going on.

Im planning on bowling a summer league using only 4 Hustle Inks. 2 diff layouts, 2 diff surfaces. Ill probably average within 3 pins of my composite depending on if I start my KETO diet by then or not

Fair point, but if that’s the case, then it’s not really the ideal replacement for the Alpha Crux it’s been touted to be.

Storm has made this mistake before when comparing old vs. new bowling balls. Remember the Optimus Pearl? They said it would/could replace the Marvel Pearl ......... NOT! While the Optimus Pearl was a great ball in it's own right, many bought it thinking it would be a Marvel replacement and were disappointed when it wasn't. Because of this many didn't give the Optimus a chance and now they're doing it again. The Alpha Crux and Code X are different animals, period. Unfortunately many will "buy in" to the Alpha-Code X comparison and will be disappointed ......... again.

Seriously?  I've had both . . and the Code X is a lot like the Alpha.  Not the same ball, but I'm not seeing much difference.  Yeah there's difference on paper, but the Code X feels strong for R2S.  It's an Alpha Crux look and shape.  May not be EXACTLY the same, but it is very similar and feels very familiar.  I also don't BS people to sell bowling balls, if it wasn't like the Alpha I would have said it wasn't, what good does that do to lie to people just to have them come back and be pissed at me for it?

Although this wasn’t directed at me, I feel like I should be clear about my comment:

I’m not questioning whether or not Luke is giving us an accurate comparison. I’m sure he is, he’s hardly the only video making that comparison. My comment was directed at the manufacturers.
