Please vote, post any questions. Don't worry about specifics...I drill tons of balls...I usually go pin above bridge or pin to the right of my ring..and that typically is my best results.
I'm 15 mph. Love to play 15 to 8. Bowl on all sorts of conditions and surfaces. This will mostly be used on wood, medium oil. Super high friction.
Thank you!

For me, high Rev 16 MPh high track I went with a 60x5x45 and it's a strong ball! Tons of backend. But super clean and controllable.
-
Assuming you have an average PAP (4.5 - 5.25" roughly):
Assuming 15 mph is at the pin deck (you seem to use a lot of strong balls), I'd suggest pin in ring.
If 15 mph is at the arrows or foul line, I'd suggest pin and CG stacked under the bridge.

Whatever the computer monitors say at nicer centers is what I go by.
I was leaning with the pin in ring..cause usually pin right above the ring does really well for me...in most cases.
-
Most centers measure speed near the pins, using the same camera housing that watch the pins for scoring.
you can lose as much as 2 MPH in ball speed from release to pin deck.
-
Not much difference between 2 inch and 3 inch pin. May impact weight hole options. Use the layout you have the most confidence in.

My 4 inch pin to pap puts the pin outside the ring.
My 5 is above the bridge.
The 4 incher is what I'm confident in...
I just see a lot of people getting rid of their sky rockets.
-
Probably because it's a skid-and-kick ball.
-
I really like my SkyRocket, but it is drilled strong and is only used in late games when my other balls have trouble making the corner turn to get back to the pocket. It is very controllable and hits well.

Will post a pic for all of those who votes...I kinda chickened out and just went pin down, listened to my PSO. I let him decide.
But I do want more opinions:
For someone who always does pin up layouts...
What should I expect from a pin down polished mid price pearl ball versus my normal pin up selection.
Will is just be smoother off the spotand provide similar length?
Or
Will it be just early and I guess more or less not what I want?
Anyways I'm throwing it tomorrow! Pics soon

Here it is...

Not quite as sharp, a little more rounded shape.
I think when I've seen you post your stats before me and you actually throw the ball pretty similar. I've learned I don't need to do anything crazy with layouts and I do well with pin above ring, pin in ring, pin under ring, pin to side of ring anywhere from 3-4.5" Pin-PAP distance.
Cover and surface being the biggest factor and tweak shape with weight holes
-
Thanks SV...
Yeah anymore as long as it fits good and I got a 3.5-5" pap I'm good. So I was curious as to the outcome with a short pin.
-
Oops.......there goes the warranty on that ball

cuz its not an inch right?
-
I seriously doubt that you will have any warranty issues

agreed
-
Usually a 1/2-3/4" will warranty a return if there's a problem. That one looks a little closer than 1/2"
-
I've never had an issue as long as the pin isn't drilled out. Inserts void your warranty, but..... ::)
-
That's where IF inserts are sweet

Lol I could care less. I have had a Virtual Energy crack 3 300s, a lucid crack 1 300...
It's all good.
Odds are its a turd anyways lol.
I like my power ovals...get off me!
-
Hate those turds !!

VISE OPO's for the win!

Besides I feel the cracking balls has to do with the environment as much as the manufacturer.
If you're having a bunch crack on you its your PSO or something you're doing. Unless it's a global, no pun intended, or world wide issue.
-
so whats the verdict on the ball and drilling? I am thinking about drilling one up with a pin under drilling.
-
Idk. I didn't get to use it on the shot that it is needed for. Midwest snow storms...I will know Wednesday night.
In attendance for comparison will be a skid, scream, !QTF, F'n Frantic...which all roll well for me.
I used it on a shot that usually always requires a strong ball..didn't get a good read.
