Need help with a new ball
« on: December 02, 2006, 01:34:17 PM »
Am looking for a Storm ball to fit between my Uranium HRG and my Pearl Cobalt.

I'd like a solid resin to help combat some of the carrydown but would also like it have a strong backend so I can move inside and have it get back.

I have thrown Storm well in the past and would consider adding a Storm ball to my arsenal again...

Any help would be appreciated.

i agree. the Special Agent. or if you're looking for something that's a bit more tame but still very good, get the thunderstruck solid.

The Thunderstruck Solid is not tame by any means of the imagination.  The one I own flips as hard on the back as most pearls I've thrown.  Maybe if you add some surface it'll tame down a bit.  The Special Agent or Diablo is probably your best bet.  If you don't mind using Roto Grip, the Horizon Solid is another good choice.

Yeah I am confused by these Thunderstruck tame comments that keep popping up.  I can use that thing for anything but really heavy oil.  I bet if I had a sanded one, it would probably work for the heavy oil too.

According to Storm's website the T-Struck solid and the Special Agent have VERY similar reactions.....

Thunderstruck Solid is perfect for medium oil with carrydown, I have mine at 1000Grit and it's perfect for that spot.

If your looking for something to handle more oil the Special Agent is the one your looking for.

I decided to have a good friend of mine on the site here just drill a ball and send it to me:-) He sees way more balls in action than I do so I lef the layout and ball choice up to him....he's going to send me a ball with 3 holes in it and I'll put in the inserts/ slug and such when it gets here and then add a x hole if needed....

gotta love surprises!!!! I am thinking it'll be a Storm ball though...I'm excited!!!!!

Just remeber you can always change the surface. I have a double agent that was way to strong. So i polished it up and brought the surface to 2500 grit. Goes much longer and snappier now, plus doesn't hook off the lane.
