Hi Alex, no offense, but why are you asking ? The first thing that came to my mind was why ? It's 1500 polished now, isnt' it ? And if you need to, you may have chose the wrong ball.

Jeff,

Maybe he did choose the wrong ball for his condition; we all do that more than we like to admit. If his condition is drier than the EPP likes, maybe a slight polish is what's needed to make his ball usable. Re-drilling or buying another new ball is not always a cost-effective option for many of us.

Storm's Xtra-Shine will take a ball to as high as 3500 grit. If he needs the EPP to clear the heads a little better, get a little bit more length, Xrta-shine should do the trick. Alex polish it lightly in small steps so you don't take it too far all at once.

charlest,

I understand and agree, I just wanted him to explain what and why he's asking so we can help him properly.  I don't think a "new" ball was suggested or inferred,..that was just a basic statement. I'd like to see why he's asking first , then we can all make better suggestions.

Um, it'll do the same thing that polish does to every other ball.  It'll make it hook less and go longer.

Um....not so fast there you little learning dis-abled rodent!!

Not really!!  More polish can add to the backend!  Yes , it goes longer but it usually will make the turn a bit harder on the back...yes ?

Yeah, I know.  Going longer would make it hook more at the backend, of course.  More energy saved for when the ball starts moving, yep.

I purchased this ball for med. oil conditions.Using it for the first game is no problem but by the fourth or fifth frame of the second game i have moved my feet and mark almost out of my comfort zone.By the third game i can't control it.I was thinking of polishing it but i have never polished a particle ball before and i didn't want to ruin it. thanks for the advice.

Alex, how far is your comfort zone ??

Where do you start, and where do you start feeling uncomfortable?

Is this league the first of the night or second /third ?

First league of the nite.Playing past third arrow i either don't carry, not enough hand,or i just can't control the ball.

OK, sounds like that is your UNCOMFORTABLE ZONE....where do you start?

Jeff,
Doesn't matter if it's his UNCOMFORTABLE zone; unless the ball can't make the turn from where he has to move, he has to learn to "bowl" from his discomfit area unless he allows it to become his discomfiture. Practice will take care of this.

However, Alex, if you polish it, you may not be able to use it for the first game. Do you want it for game 1 & 2 or game 2 & 3? Or preferably, all 3 games.

As an alternative, do you have a ball that hooks less for game 3?

Charlest.......once again, understood, but I'm trying to understand how alex is struggling.....he spoke to us about where he's uncomfortable,  but where does he start for game one ??  Maybe he's moving way too much in the beginning or not enough...he's not providing the whole picture, or asnwering all the questions that he's being asked

The only question was, has any one polished this ball but received no answers so i polished it and it worked out fine. Shot 242,247,238 and 245,a 972 in my triples summer league. The polish delayed the hook just enough for me. Glad i took the chance and polished it.
