Never had the solid....Punched it for state and walked away with $650 in side pots and will cash decently in every event.

I must be stupid for waiting this long.

There were a couple of questions about the IQ Pearl, and IQ 30.  I have had both, and despite the similar specs they are nowhere near the same ball.  I did not like the Gold Pearl at all.  However the 30 has become one of my favorite tournament balls.  Guys who liked the gold mostly have a lot more hand than me.  I haven't talked to anyone with the 30 who doesn't like it regardless of style.  It isn't like the solid, but is really smooth for a pearl.

Sounds like I should have ordered the IQ 30 before they were disco'd.

I've had 2 IQ Tour Solids - one pin down, and one pin up.  I still have the pin up one.

I had some success with the pin down one - winning a USBC Masters qualifier with it.  However, other than that, nothing.  I could never really get the ball to transition from hook to roll quick enough to feel comfortable with it on almost all conditions - most of the time it would just plaque when it would get to the pocket.  The pin-up, with the quicker response layout, has been much more versatile for me.  While it's been better, there are better options for my style of bowling on most of the conditions that I encounter on the left side.

Ultimately, what I have learned from the IQ Tour Solid (and the Gold Ball/IQ Nano/UpRoar) is that low diff balls seem to be condition specific for me.  They work best for me when the back ends are SCREAMING. These balls don't peel off the spot for me, so there is a place for them, just not that often.

I also have two. Both are 5x40, with one of them having no hole and the other having a big hole down VAL. Pin downs almost always give me the same issue you saw with yours, so I decided not to try to separate the two that way.

End result: the motion I get out of each is absolutely perfect on house shots. The no hole is my go-to, with the hole down version making appearances on longer house shots or carry down. As I mentioned before, I've been able to play every house shot in my area with just IQ, IQ, and mix. That includes multiple tournament cashes and a couple 800s. The motion is perfect, I just need to pick where I want it to start up on the lane.

That's too bad, I love my Gold ball, it gives me such a strong, yet controllable motion that just demolishes the pins, it's so consistent, yet never overreact at all on the back end, just right.

Never threw the IQ 30, but it's similar to other pieces in my bag, so not missing it really.

This might be the post to make me get one LOL. Congrats Bill!

I suggest you also get the IQ Tour 30 (or the IQ Tour Pearl if you can find one) as well.

Billdozer you aren't the only one who has never bought this ball. I still don't have one. Now I am wondering?

Get one, biggest surprise I have had in some time now.

The shot in my main league is a significantly lower volume this calendar year. In the first half of the season I was using really aggressive equipment. The shot this year has been a much lower volume but you cannot carry if you play the dry. You have to ride the oil line that's in the middle and get the ball to tip later.  A fresh cover IQ Tour at 4000 has been money for me the first game. As the night goes on I can bend more extreme angles and get it to carry as long as my speed isn't too firm.

I also used it to a respectable 194 avg for 6 games on the 32 ft PBA Wolf pattern at a tournament to barely miss the cash. The ball is very consistent in it's motion down the lane on many different conditions. It is a ball that everyone should have There are times where nothing else out there rolls better. And I throw about 7 different brands in my bags from 900/AMF, EBI, Roto, Storm.

If you told me I could only carry two balls the rest of my life, a Hyroad and IQ Tour would be the balls. IQT is great, still doesn't beat the V2 Solid. And no, the V2 solid is NOT a game breaker.

And yes NF I know what u mean. The v2 line was killer. Growing up the pearl was the hit believe it or not, (wood lane center, makes sense)

Busted out my IQ fusion for the first time in a long time....The ball is pretty good, must be tossing it different these days versus 2 years ago, or on a different surface.

Lots of love here for the IQ Tour. Mine was responsible for helping to earn 2 Regional cashes. When the lanes went south and nothing else was working, the IQ Tour kept me around the pocket.

That's where I see it's value. For me, the IQT is almost never the first ball out of the bag. There are usually much better choices to start with. But when the pattern breaks down into something ugly, the IQT is an excellent ball to help stay out of trouble. Everyone needs a ball for that kind of situation.

Storm could put the iQ logo on a block of wood and I'd still buy it.  I have 2 solids, 1 nano, and 1 pearl 30 .... they all kill it.  I sold my Fusion since it overlapped but its was good too.

If you have any amount of hand and/or like to vary hand positions, this is the ball for you.  You can always get to the pocket.

I hope they are cooking up another one.. perhaps one with the original hybrid Lock cover.
