Never had the solid....Punched it for state and walked away with $650 in side pots and will cash decently in every event.
I must be stupid for waiting this long.

hmm; perhaps we take a vote on if you are stupid or not.
in the mean time I will be on my side of the internet silently judging you for your tardiness to the IQ Tour.
-
I had the fusion...Didn't care for it and never wanted anymore of em and I just decided the other week to punch up a solid. Lol
-
Welcome to the IQ party ball freak lol, seriously, its one of the best benchmarks you you can ever buy. I have them all ( except the 30) And will never get rid of them, one of the best mid-level lines you can ever purchase.
-

There is a reason the Solid is still Sold.. HaHa, better late than never. Nice its already paid for it self.

Yep I'm tempted to buy 2 and stash em.

My son always calls it the greatest ball of all time. He's got one stashed on the side for when his current one bites the dust. I might pick up a second just to be safe.

Ever drill up a RocketShip? Curious on differences you noted if so.
-
This might be the post to make me get one LOL. Congrats Bill!
-
And you call yourself a Storm guy... GTFOH!
-
Ever drill up a RocketShip? Curious on differences you noted if so.
Rocketship is closer to my oilshined hyroad solid.
I used the tour on sport(housey-sport condition) at the state tournament. All of the my other stuff was super over under and that tour kept me in play all weekend!

I know right!!! Haha

The two of them aren't even in the same class

Since we're on the IQ train, what's the overall consensus on the IQ Tour pearl/30? I personally love my original IQ/pearl great 1/2 punch for me.
Too bad Bill on the nano, great ball for the tough sports shots I see.

Sounds like the shot at Airport might actually be something that should be put down for states. Wasn't too impressed with what was out there in Waterford and Bay City the past couple of years.

Am I the only one who loves the IQ Fusion?
Been trying to track down one to stash but those who do have it, want way more than I will pay.

The reason we stash them is so we can over charge you. :o ;D
-
I just finally tried one in January myself, even though I had a fusion that I loved. The Solid has worked out so well, I bought a second one in February.
My house shot arsenal lately has been IQ Tour, IQ Tour, spare ball. Easily the best ball I've ever owned, and I'm seriously considering purchasing a third.

Haha oh I know. Not hating on it, just not going to be the one who does overpay lol

I feel storms got another iq in the works, they gotta...

The nano sold because of the name and Pepe winning with his, even though it was shined all of to hell. Lol.
The timeless is going to be the same. Except belmo behind it which brings more sales. Good for my favorite company I guess.
-
Wow no opinions of the Pearl IQ? ???
-
The tour solid is one of the best balls i have ever thrown. I got the 30 recently and like it alot, still getting used to it.
-
I just like the fact that the differential really took over on the sport shot I bowled on. It truly made it easy. As long as I squared up, the over under I saw with the no rules, respect hybrid and haywire was gone....
-
Wow no opinions of the Pearl IQ? ???
Never threw it. The fusion was "aight." But it didn't do the job I expected.

Billdozer you aren't the only one who has never bought this ball. I still don't have one. Now I am wondering?

I've had 2 IQ Tour Solids - one pin down, and one pin up. I still have the pin up one.
I had some success with the pin down one - winning a USBC Masters qualifier with it. However, other than that, nothing. I could never really get the ball to transition from hook to roll quick enough to feel comfortable with it on almost all conditions - most of the time it would just plaque when it would get to the pocket. The pin-up, with the quicker response layout, has been much more versatile for me. While it's been better, there are better options for my style of bowling on most of the conditions that I encounter on the left side.
Ultimately, what I have learned from the IQ Tour Solid (and the Gold Ball/IQ Nano/UpRoar) is that low diff balls seem to be condition specific for me. They work best for me when the back ends are SCREAMING. These balls don't peel off the spot for me, so there is a place for them, just not that often.
-
There were a couple of questions about the IQ Pearl, and IQ 30. I have had both, and despite the similar specs they are nowhere near the same ball. I did not like the Gold Pearl at all. However the 30 has become one of my favorite tournament balls. Guys who liked the gold mostly have a lot more hand than me. I haven't talked to anyone with the 30 who doesn't like it regardless of style. It isn't like the solid, but is really smooth for a pearl.

Sounds like I should have ordered the IQ 30 before they were disco'd.

I also have two. Both are 5x40, with one of them having no hole and the other having a big hole down VAL. Pin downs almost always give me the same issue you saw with yours, so I decided not to try to separate the two that way.
End result: the motion I get out of each is absolutely perfect on house shots. The no hole is my go-to, with the hole down version making appearances on longer house shots or carry down. As I mentioned before, I've been able to play every house shot in my area with just IQ, IQ, and mix. That includes multiple tournament cashes and a couple 800s. The motion is perfect, I just need to pick where I want it to start up on the lane.

That's too bad, I love my Gold ball, it gives me such a strong, yet controllable motion that just demolishes the pins, it's so consistent, yet never overreact at all on the back end, just right.
Never threw the IQ 30, but it's similar to other pieces in my bag, so not missing it really.
-
This might be the post to make me get one LOL. Congrats Bill!
I suggest you also get the IQ Tour 30 (or the IQ Tour Pearl if you can find one) as well.

Get one, biggest surprise I have had in some time now.

The shot in my main league is a significantly lower volume this calendar year. In the first half of the season I was using really aggressive equipment. The shot this year has been a much lower volume but you cannot carry if you play the dry. You have to ride the oil line that's in the middle and get the ball to tip later. A fresh cover IQ Tour at 4000 has been money for me the first game. As the night goes on I can bend more extreme angles and get it to carry as long as my speed isn't too firm.
I also used it to a respectable 194 avg for 6 games on the 32 ft PBA Wolf pattern at a tournament to barely miss the cash. The ball is very consistent in it's motion down the lane on many different conditions. It is a ball that everyone should have There are times where nothing else out there rolls better. And I throw about 7 different brands in my bags from 900/AMF, EBI, Roto, Storm.
-
If you told me I could only carry two balls the rest of my life, a Hyroad and IQ Tour would be the balls. IQT is great, still doesn't beat the V2 Solid. And no, the V2 solid is NOT a game breaker.

Yeah. I really want a couple of each ready to be drilled at will!!!
-
And yes NF I know what u mean. The v2 line was killer. Growing up the pearl was the hit believe it or not, (wood lane center, makes sense)

Northface, can you tell me the differences tou saw between the V2 and Gamebreaker? Hope Bill doesn't mind!
-
Busted out my IQ fusion for the first time in a long time....The ball is pretty good, must be tossing it different these days versus 2 years ago, or on a different surface.
-
Lots of love here for the IQ Tour. Mine was responsible for helping to earn 2 Regional cashes. When the lanes went south and nothing else was working, the IQ Tour kept me around the pocket.
That's where I see it's value. For me, the IQT is almost never the first ball out of the bag. There are usually much better choices to start with. But when the pattern breaks down into something ugly, the IQT is an excellent ball to help stay out of trouble. Everyone needs a ball for that kind of situation.

Storm could put the iQ logo on a block of wood and I'd still buy it. I have 2 solids, 1 nano, and 1 pearl 30 .... they all kill it. I sold my Fusion since it overlapped but its was good too.
If you have any amount of hand and/or like to vary hand positions, this is the ball for you. You can always get to the pocket.
I hope they are cooking up another one.. perhaps one with the original hybrid Lock cover.
-
You guys are making me think hard about this ball.............I confess, I've never had one but loved the gold pearl.
Somewhere, deep.........deep within me...........lies the heart of a ball whore. :P :P :P

My PSO suggested that I get this ball (IQ Tour the blue one with orange writing),so I purchased it. He said it was above the Timeless and that it is a "all around ball". I didn't hesitate in buying it (it comes friday) because all the reviews on here s great and I never herd anything bad about this ball. As A "Hammer head" this will be the second ball I will have that is not in the hammer family.
Now I have the Timeless and IQ Tour is there a gap I need to fill? or a ball above/below should I get. I need a 3rd ball as I went to 15LB.(ball company dosn't matter) Thanks ahead of time

Another ball? I guess it depends on what kind of bowling you do. If you are a casual league bowler, just evaluate your needs after throwing the two you have. The IQ takes surface adjustments very well so experiment. I like mine at 2000. The OOB is 4000.
If you need more reaction make you 3rd ball a big hooker, if you need less then look at those balls. If you need more, the Phase 2 or Sure Lock will get it done. Less then look at the hectic
-
Thanks Beer League. Mako,Gauntlet or Jackal Ghost is what I am looking at.

Avg players don't like shooting spares ad nauseam, the IQT has a tendency to get 9-9-9-9-9-9-9-9 a lot. Great ball for staying out of trouble but you will get run over if the scoring pace is high.

Yep. For me it's a sport pattern ball all day. I just bowled a flat 45' foot pattern with randomly added oil using a ketchup bottle...Lol... Nothing hooked.
Keeping the ball in play for spares and a few strikes was key.
Got 5th, 156 203 187 192 (738)
Missed first by a mark or two. 757 won for 4 games. Lol pretty tough stuff!!!
181 average cashed!!! IQ baby...

Forgot to mention I had the nano IQ too. Ball was also garbage.
the IQ Nano is a good ball; its just not at nearly the same level as the IQ Tour.

Nano...I had to shine the dogshit out of it to be halfway decent.. As you've found out the 1st iq tour is money...lol. Also excellent at 2000 grit
-
I concur... when I am able to use it, it's exactly at 2000, probably the most consistent, predictable ball you'll ever use, on the RIGHT conditions will always keep you in the game!!!

When the IQs came out u still had the marvel line....By the time I needed a new HP symmetrical....The nano had hype. Gotta love when they hype terrible balls don't ya lol.

Couldn't disagree more. I have 2 IQ Tours, and it's the best carrying ball I've ever had. 9s have only been a problem when playing very very deep.
I'm high speed high rev, but slightly speed dominant. IQT has been MUCH more versatile for me than my Hyroad.

We're all different and we all match up differently. I respect that for you the IQ has been the best carrying ball you've ever had. However, I agree with the others. When I see someone lining up with an IQ Tour Solid on a wide-open THS, I know that person is at a disadvantage from a carry perspective.
-
I never carried much with my IQ on house shots but has been very good for me on flatter short to medium length patterns that allowed me to play out. Incidentally, the IQ 30 may be one of the most under rated balls out there. Nothing like the gold pearl. Super smooth of the end if the oil like the solid but a little better continuation that allows me to get a little deeper than I can with the solid.
-
Just picked up a low game used one. Getting plugged now. Brainstorming layouts with my PSO. First time having this ball.
Curious as to what layouts did everyone use?
-
You'll get a mixture of both layouts Alonzo... (pin up, and pin down). I personally have mine pin up, and for me it clears the heads, and picks up STRONG in the mids with a flippy, but controllable and consistent motion on the back: So smooth and consistent.
Have fun and enjoy throwing one of the most consistent benchmarks ever made!!!!
Ps. Keep this ball mostly in front of you (don't try to play too much swing area, or its flat 10 all night) And you'll be all good to go.

Awesome, I was thinking pin up but wondered if it was taboo with this ball considering its target control ball use.

Not at all. Keep in mind the ball was already designed to lower the flare so it will still be more predictable than the higher flaring balls. I loved the 2 pin up ones for a bit of a swing while stillx alowing me to control the midlane. I could use it when there was a bit of a bump spot very well. Matched up on house and sport. My pin down one was almost like urethane in that it controlled the whole lane. It was much better for straighter angles and playing gurther right. I'm thinking about adding a pin down IQ Tour along with a Trick for my tournament patterns. Might even shoot a video comparison if anyone is interested.

Damn you Billdozer!
I had an IQ tour when they first came out drilled 5 inch pin to pap, pin down. Couldn't carry at all on ths and it was just ok on sport. I preferred my Venom Shock once I bought it on both THS and Sport, so it got sold. This season I've struggled mightily controlling the backend on my fri night league. Only success I've had was with a Pyramid Blueprint, which is a phenomenal ball for the money. After reading this thread I bought another IqTour drilled it 4 inch pin to pap, pin up(2000). It's has been much better for me on my ths. Actually carrying from pretty steep angles and scoring well. On my way to Vegas today and it's in my bag with the Trick I also bought last week.
-
I'm going IQ tour and a trick for nationals too
Lololololololol lololololololo
-
Count me in. DDT and IQT headed to Vegas.
-
I'm going IQ tour and a trick for nationals too
Lololololololol lololololololo
What differences have you noted between the two? Picking up my IQ in a few days. I wondered if I like the IQ, how slapping the same layout on a Trick would differ.

For me, same drill both at 2000. The Trick is much much stronger in the midlane on ths. I Bowl Thursday/fri here in Vegas will know more then.
-
I have the IQ tour. Is this ball considered a bench mark ball to tell me to ball up or down(I am new to bowling).
-
IQT is going dead straight at nationals. Gonna need some teeth to get the Trick done.
-

I can see this. I cant imagine it being enough flare on the pattern.
-
For those who may have seen it, one of the USBC videos they released of a team taking over the lead in the 10th frame, there was a guy on the companion team rolling a Hectic around 15. He was not a boomer, and the ball had plenty of motion.
I'm not saying he started with it, but based on the info we all have access to, the team pattern is hooking plenty, and potentially shorter than we may have guessed before the tournament started.
It may turn out to be the case that an IQT is not enough motor, even with surface, but there is no way that it stays home if there is even a chance that I need that ball when I get there.
-
They didn't show the Makos, Gauntlets, and high flaring solid assymetricals that everyone is throwing on the fresh. Depending on what you start with on the fresh is going to depend on how strong of a ball you can use third game.

This.

My colleague just returned from USBCs and when asked about something like the IQ Tour out there, he said, "that ball wouldve hooked tomorrow". Meaning it wouldve taken massive amounts of play for that ball to wrinkle.
-
This is good information, even if I don't have a complete picture of the person and their style of play.
Always a bit disappointing to learn that a ball you like and have hopes of using may not bring enough horsepower to be a good option. But I would rather have more info to work with than less, so it's all useful.
I do still love my IQT, which was the original intent of this post, by the way.
Thanks for the heads up.
-
Hey everyone the general consensus is that team hooks, doubles and singles doesnt. With hooking middles on both.
My vote on Synthetics will the be tour on team
Trick on doubles and singles
I'll be bringing a 3rd. No clue as to what just yet.

What about the NRP with some surface? Don't you need a ball up from the Trick?
-
I heard the same and from I saw yesterday watching, sounds right.
I brought:
Scandal
Scandal Pearl
Trick
IQ Tour
-
I would bring at least 1 clean & angular option. A lot of the singles leaders were able to throw up a big 3rd game with balls such as, Xeno Pearl, Kinetic Emerald, Code Black.
I'm going Mako - Tyrant - Legion Solid for the options on the fresh. IQ Tour, Arson Low Flare, Code Black for the transition.
-
Personally, I'd be bringing Incinerate, Night Hawk Stealth, Dream On for the fresh, Torch, Night Hawk SE, Boost Pearl for the burn.
-
NRP could be an option for some of the break down.
Respec hyrbid would be the best up the boards option if I need some polish out there.
The trick will the strongest ball I bring. My standard layout is a ton of midlane and control on the backend. My issue isn't OIL, it's "Lack of oil" usually with a 15 mph ball speed, rev dominant and the ability to really back off the speed if needed on oil.
I have a new hyroad pearl that is VERY smooth off the spot which might be the breakdown ball...
Idk boys, I'm pretty adamant on solids at this event.

The Hy-Road Pearl is my favorite by far for breakdown on sport patterns in that 38+ ft range.
-
WOW lol...had the same reaction now that I got a series on my first IQ Tour.
-
I finally got my IQ Tour. 4" pin-to-pap, up above the bridge. I'm going to start with a fresh 2000 surface.
Going to put some work in on a sport pattern Friday night.....I'll report back after.
