I'm a fairly straight player and I've found myself throwing identical lines as The Duke on the PBA shots.  I find that if a ball is creeping high, I just move my feet left a board or two and maybe move your eyes a board.  But more often than not I don't need to move my eyes until my ball starts to move a lot earlier than when I first started.

You may have trouble playing outside angles like that on a house shot.  There's simply too much friction too early to make it work in many cases.  Remember, even Norm Duke can move left and hook it when he wants to or needs to do so.  The PBA patterns happen to be very conducive to moving right, squaring up,  coming up the back of the ball and playing off the gutter.  However, you may need to move a little deeper and swing the ball out to the breakpoint a little to keep the ball on target.

i can hook the ball alot if i want and play great that way but the only way i am going 2 get better is 2 learn new ways of bowling. my low set playing up the outside has been a 595 and that was on lanes 1 and 2 i hate them lanes. i shot high games that way but the first game is never good.

Norm has a great forward roll release and he generate revs with the bent elbow on the downswing. I think his control is from that great release.

Dan Belcher is very correct on playing on a THS using Norm's release. I tried and failed miserably a year ago. Moved over right (lefty) and moved my target inside the second arrow with a small swing and the ball started to find the pocket. Was suprised with that flat of a release would hook until I realize that the outside the 10 is very dry at our house. (Went brain dead for awhile.)

It doesn't matter what you use...YOU WILL NEVER BOWL LIKE NORM DUKE.

A good bowler plays what the lane gives him/her...you can't always play WHERE you WANT to play and score well.  Sometimes you have to play WHERE the lane ALLOWS you to play...

I dunno about all that.  It's not that hard to square up and straighten your line.  But I do agree that you have to play the conditions at hand and adjust accordingly.

I play better on the line near the gutter. I try the hook and sometimes it just doesn't work for me. I wish that I could bowl like Norm Duke but sometimes I wish I could crank it like Wes Malott.

Norm can hook it as much as Malott if he wants to.

Kenny...PUT DOWN THE PIPE!!!

Yes Norm can hook it, but no where near like Wes. Walter Ray can slide the gutter too but that does not mean he hooks it like Wes.

Trust me...I have personally seen Mr Duke play the 6th arrow when the lanes require it but you know what? It's rarely necessary!!!!

The fewer boards you cross the fewer boards you have to cause you an erratic reaction over.

Straighter is STILL greater boys and girls....
