Question: Going down in weight, & starting w/a solid cover
« on: July 23, 2009, 07:39:47 AM »
Because I have arthritis/carpel tunnel issues. Sort of long, so bear w/me.

I plan on sticking w/Storm.  I currently use my Attitude Shift.   So I'm currently looking at either another Attitude or even trying a mid price range ball.  I've been looking at a Rapid Fire, Furious & T-Road Solid or maybe even a Hy-Road.  I really like my Attitude so it's in the lead, but I don't know what I'm missing by not trying these other balls.  RG's are very similar & I know that the Attitude is assym. but other than amounts of oil each will handle will there be much difference in reaction shape?  And what would those be?  Are some more forgiving/have more area?  Has anybody thrown a combination of these balls that could give me some comparison?  I'd be using it predominantly for league bowling.

I'm righty & a touch speed dominant over med revs.  PAP is 4 & 7/8 over x 1/4 up.  The house I bowl on is wood.  Oil sometimes is med to heavy & sometimes med to light.  We don't know what we're getting pretty much until practice.  But I'd say the average is Medium.  With my current Attitude I would chase the oil in then go to my Shift.

For what it's worth, it seems from past experience, all of your best luck has come from medium RG pieces with strong covers.  Lower RG equipment doesn't seem to match your game well with the lane conditions.

Right.  That's why I was looking at these 4 or 5 balls.   The T-Road is the lowest of them, but it's still in that medium range.  And that's why I wasn't considering the VG or Dimension.  Still leaning to another Attitude, but wanted to know what others have experienced who've thrown an Attitude vs. any of the balls I've listed.

Monster,

I am also a big fan of the Attitude Shift.  I also have a T-Road Solid and I used to have a Rapid Fire so i can give you some comparison.

The big value to me of the Attitude and original Shift is the core.  The med. RG asymmetric. core seems to give me a great house shot read with just the right amount of skid, hook, roll.  On sport shots (PBA and others) that advantage doesn't seem to be there for me and I match up better with symmetric cores like the Dimensions and the T-Road.

If you match covers (both all at 2000) the Attitude Shift is slightly more angular than the T-Road and a bit earlier than a Rapid Fire.  If I had to pick one for league I'd always go with the Attitude EXCEPT if the oil made me square up more and then I'd go with the T-Road Solid.

If you can still get an Attitude Shift in the new weight I'd get that. I know you want to stick with Storm but the new Nomad Solid is pretty impressive in the mid-level solid space you may want to include that as well.  If you look at the Nomads don't hesitate to change the solid to 4000 abralon instead of box polish.  The Nomads aren't asymmetric, but the core provides a nice house shot read.

Thanks Greenie.  Attitude is the way I'm leaning as of now just because of my success w/it thus far.  I'll take a look at the Nomad too.
