Randy Pederson in Fort Myers, Florida and new Storm releases
« on: April 18, 2007, 07:12:53 AM »
I was bringing a ball to my driller, Chuck Rucker, at Galaxy Lanes in Fort Myers around 1:30 today. I walk into this huge Storm display and, to my amazement, there was Randy throwing the T-Road Pearl! I was checking out the balls on display and Randy came over and started talking to me about different balls and their reactions. We spent about 15 minutes talking, what a really nice guy!!

Talk about a great surprise, I had no idea about the Storm open house.

For you Storm fans out there I can tell you what the next 2 releases will be as I held them both in my hands today. There is a T-Road Solid (really nice looking ball) and there is also a new Agent, the Secret Agent. I asked Randy about the coverstock on the new Secret, because I love my Special Agent. He said that he didn't know much about it but hang on let me make a call. So he calls some Storm tech/sales guy. What Randy was told is that it some kind of hybrid cover and he didn't know if it had any particle or not in it. I can tell you this: it is a relatively dull surface and it looks like there is at least some pearl (but that could just be the coloring) in it. I asked him if it was a solid particle, as this is the only thing missing from the Agent line but he didn't know. He did say that the cover is definately R2S based. He didn't know an exact release date.

There were 2 balls that you could try out, the T-Road pearl and the Jolt(I think, not positive). I didn't have my gear with me but there were a dozen or so guys trying the 2 balls out. Chuck was working his butt off changing thumb and finger grips among the various balls available to try. They also had 2 different lane conditions layed out to show the differences between the balls.

Randy is thinner and younger looking than he appears on TV, plus he is a really nice guy. Thanks Randy, for taking the time that you spent with me today, it was enlightening and interesting to discuss bowling balls and reactions with an accomplished pro.

Randy Pederson is the guy that stoned the 8 pin on TV a few years back to lose the match, right ?

The host of the PBA telecasts ?

I was so impressed by his demeanor, approachability and friendliness. It was a great surprise for me, as I knew nothing about the Storm Open House. But Randy was great, he spent 15 minutes talking to someone he didn't know (me) and was very informative and interesting. We talked for a few minutes about differences between Storm balls and Ebonite/Hammer balls. His insights were very interesting.

Man I actually live in Fort Myers myself. I actually got my One and Angular One drilled by Chuck Rucker. Good Guy and a excellent driller. I actually bowl leagues at Galaxy, Friendship, and Coral. I probably have seen ya around. Im a younger bowler but I average around 215-225 between the houses. I actually was gonna head up there yesterday but I decided not to. It wouldve been nice to meet Randy.

This is pretty cool.  I am assuming the T-Road Solid would have the inverted core and solid R2S which would make it Dark Thunder-like?

The Secret Agent being a hybrid is pretty hot and should please many people.
