a new arsenal
« on: January 30, 2008, 04:14:41 AM »
I am currently looking at changing / updating my arsenal of bowling balls.  I have always liked the Storm products I used when I was younger.  My current line up of balls include an El Nino, X-Factor Triple X, and a Hammer 3D Superflip.  My most predictable ball and "money ball" is actually my 3D Superflip.  They hook from most to least in that order with the layouts that are on them.

I throw the ball 16 - 18 mph, and would consider myself a tweener with the ability to go up the boards or swing the lane.

I am looking at getting an Attitude Shift, T-Road Pearl, Thunderstruck Pearl and a Tropical Storm.

Any thoughts?

T-Road Pearl and Thunderstruck Pearl are WAY too close if you building a new 4 ball arsenal.

Personally I am not a fan of the Tropical - I'd get a Jolt Pearl if you really need a drier lane ball.  I know there are others that would say the opposite.

If I were to create a from scratch 4 ball arsenal for myself I'd probably go with:

Special Agent
Shift
Spit Fire
T-Road Pearl

I think that core/cover combo will give you a good and varied set of looks at the pocket.

Attitude Shift(when theres a lot of oil)
Gravity Shift(for when you put the attitude away and want to open up the lane without having a ball that gives you a look of someone kicking it sideways)
T-Road pearl(for a true medium oil shot where you can let your swing lose and really tear it up)
Tropical(when you need to get a ball through the front choose a pin up drilling and hit it with 4000 abralon so it wont skate on the oil and dart left off the dry the 4000 gives you more aerea with the shine the ball is very over under for me at least) I hope this helps

Tropical + Dry = NAHHH

1. Attitude...T-Road Solid (cheaper alternative for oil)
2. T-Road Pearl... Spit Fire (good benchmark piece)
3. ThunderStruck Pearl
4. Jolt Pearl
