I was curious about this ball. I know everyone says that this should be storms benchmark ball, but I was curious how it could fill this void being 1500 polished solid reactive? Has anyone tried it at any other surfaces? and how do I recreate the 1500 polished finish in the shop using Abralon?
Any experiences with the Rapid Fire would be awesome, I'm hoping for more than "I love mine." I'm hoping for some of that information you only get through trial and error, you know the important stuff.

Just Because the finish out of the Box is at 1500 polish doesn't mean you have to leave at that. It is very difficult to ever recreate box finish and this is why it is recommended to refinish the surface to a grit that can be repeatable after being used several games. Adjust the surface of all balls until desired ball reaction is created.
The R2S solid is a very versatile coverstock. The Rapid out of the Box for me was a little too skid flippy and didn't read the mids enough for my rev rate. I took 2000 abralon by hand and now the ball is a great compliment to my Special Agents at 1000 or 2000 when they burn too early. With the V-twin weight block of the Rapid Fire being a higher RG it gets down the lane pretty easy and saves a lot of energy for the back part of the lane, even at a 2000 finish. I've seen different style players throw this ball and it all seems to be a go to ball for the masses. I really like mine when the fronts go and carry down occurs on tougher patterns. This is a must for the bag in any arsenal.

You can find lots more topics about the RAPID with very little work scanning past threads.

If Abralon rounds the holes, can someone tell me what sandpaper does? Are they not both "sanding agents"???

You can't recreate a 1500 polished finish with abralon...

That which doesn't kill you will only make you stronger, that which doesn't make you stronger is a waste of time!

1500 polished is accomplished by sanding the ball to 500 or so and then applying Storm's Step 2. You'd need a spinner for optimum results.
My Rapid Fire has the strongest layout in my bag. Even with the layout it has more length then my weaker drilled Sure Fire and more back end by far!
I use mine as a benchmark, because I can tell really quickly if it's too strong off the end of the pattern and I can move to my Paradigm or T-Road Pearl.
It's been a great med/heavy ball for me in the box finish.
I shot my first 800 with it (855) last month and wouldn't you know it, the oil machine goes south and the center goes out and buys a new oil machine and oil the next week (Bruns A22)! Much lighter shot now, so the Rapid sits in my bag.

Guess I don't notice the holes rounding since I don't bevel my balls. LOL
