Spit Fire layout?
« on: June 04, 2008, 06:07:00 AM »
I just picked up a NIB Spit Fire from www.bowlingballdiscounts.com for $99.00 shipped and was wondering how some of you have drilled yours?

I was thinking 5" from PAP, pin below fingers would give me a nice addition to my 4 1/2" Rapid Fire and 5 1/4" Sure Fire.

Maybe pin above would slide the ball into my arsenal under my Sure Fire?

What is your favorite drill for this ball?

Not sure.  Really just wanted to give the ball a shot before it's gone.

My Rapid has a strong midlane read and is very continuous through the pins.  My Sure Fire has a smooth midlane read and is softer on the back end.

I think there is enough separation between the two that this ball could fit between them, but if people have had more success with a weaker layout on the Spit Fire, it could go under my Sure Fire.

Just want to hear what has worked for others before I decide to put holes in it.

Thanks,
Jermey

I had a 5" pin up layout on mine, it didn't really give me much use since it was too weak for the amount of oil I normally see.  I redrilled it to be stronger, moved the pin about 3/4" closer to the PAP, still over fingers.  Now it gives me a good look when the heads start to go away, but it gets over/under on a wet/dry shot, and it doesn't like carrydown.

Wow that is a useless post. Try going with a long drilling. I have one drilled to go very long and I love it. It was great on some of the PBA shots. But don't be surprised. This ball can hook a ton if it is drilled long.
