Title: Reacta Shine
Post by: LadyW on May 17, 2007, 01:33:43 PM
I recently acquired an Agent and have been using the Ultimate Black Magic Rejuvenator as a cleaner.

Storm suggests using Reacta Shine.  Can you tell me something about this product.  Can it be applied by hand?

My ball is drilled to go long (5 x 4 1/2).  My concern is that the Reacta Shine will add even more length or change my ball reaction.

Should I purchase this product or just continue using the BM Rejuvenator?

Any input would be appreciated.

I corrected the above to eliminate reference to Reacta Clean because it was mentioned in error.  My question relates strictly to Reacta Shine.

Sorry for the confusion.

LadyW,

You mention two products in your post, so I will answer for both products.  The Reacta Shine in my opinion works best with a ball spinner, only because you can build up a little heat to activate the resins in the ball creating a tacky surface.  The Reacta Clean works best for day-to-day cleanings and works best applied by hand.

Hope this answers your question,

Reacta Clean is just a cleaner and will not alter the surface of the bowling ball other than cleaning off the dirt and oil that the ball picks up from regular use.  Whatever cleaner you choose isn't really that important.  Find one you like and use it religiously after every bowling session.

Reacta Shine is actually a 1500 grit polish that will alter the balls surface.  Box finish for an Agent is 1500 polished so it should work perfectly.  Use this product whenever you notice the ball begin to dull up in the track area.  Or if you notice your ball is beginning to read the lane too soon, this is also a sign that the surface finish of the ball has changed.  It can be applied by hand fairly easily, but I agree that it works better on a spinner.

I've been lucky long enough...now I'd like to get good.

You can definitely Reacta Shine by hand.  You can do that for regular maintenance.  When the ball needs a nice boost, the pro shop (or someone with a spinner) can get it back to brand new looking.

Thanks for all the feedback.  I'll pick up a bottle of the Reacta Shine to refresh the cover as needed.
