Has anyone used a Furious for...
« on: May 18, 2010, 10:04:05 PM »
I have terrible luck with pearls, and I prefer to use solids almost exclusively. I have a RoF that's amazing for Heavy>Medium and a Nomad that's a great step down, but I was looking at a Furious as a step down from the Nomad. So my question is, has anyone used a Furious at something like 4000ab+polish for Med>Light conditions?

i have throw''n 3 different ones, they all belong to friends of mine... none have the hand/power that i do, they ALL were shockingly weak for me...
pins on 2 were above the ring finger with kickek cg(one with polish and a weight hole)
the other was pin under middle finger cg just above thumb on grip line with 4000 ab by hand finish.  this is the one i like the most.

where i tried them at, the house doesnt have much oil.. didnt seem like they rolled early or out just all seemed "weak"..

and one guy has a furious and ROF drilled xactly the same, i tried the ROF and W O W!! for me it was atleast 10+ boards stronger.. it only had 7frames on it compared the furious'' 30+ games.. but yes the ROF is alot stronger!!
hope this helps!!

I'm a tweener with moderate ball speed (17 mph).. I have a furious drilled pin down and like you guys said it's not very strong but I find the reaction to be very consistent and it is a very good ball choice for broken down conditions. It would be a great step down from the rof and nomad without losing reaction and hitting power. Without a doubt, storm's value balls are unmatched by any other company.

The Furious is a very strong solid reactive ball.. I think you could polish it but I would just get a Fast and be done with it..

Both are very good balls that are at a great price point as well..

Umm, no, its not a "very strong ball". Its a very even rolling ball. The cover wants to grab and the core wants to lope unless one has a monstrous rev-rate, extremely dull surface, or an incredibly strong layout I dont see this ball as "very strong".

I guess its all personal opinion.. I have seen this ball thrown by 2 very good bowlers in the house I bowl in. 1 is RH and 1 is LH and both guys swear by this ball and both would agree its very strong for them..

1 of them is on staff with Storm and he swears by the Furious and likes it more than the ROF and Invasion..

Like I said, its all personal opinion.. It''s all in how its drilled and what finish it has..

I usually prefer solid covers also and have a Furious.
The Furious can be a strong ball, no doubt.  Remember, it's the same cover as on the RoF but at 2000 OOB instead of 1000.  It does roll earlier than typical Storm equipment so it has a nice even roll.
If you have med-light THS, I think you will love a Furious polished.  I don't care for 4000 ab, but I do 2000 ab with light polish and with extender polish.  The ball can be used with light polish on this condition, but I think it is really good with some heavier polish.
If you like the RoF, you will like the Furious.

I don't do step 1, 2, 3 etc. but I really like the Furious with extender polish on med to dry conditions.  Helps the solid store more energy, but doesn't give you as flippy a reaction as a pearl like the Fast.
