Title: Replacement for Hy-Road solid
Post by: RLP12-1998 on May 17, 2015, 01:03:17 AM
Does anyone have ideas on what would be a good replacement for the hy-road solid? I already have an IQ tour and a crux but my hy-road just doesn't seem to work for me anymore. I was wondering what anyone's opinion was on a replacement or if I should play with the surface on it before looking at replacements first. I'm pretty much open to any company as far as a replacement ball.

What is the  issue with it? Hard to give advice without a problem specified.

It'll definitely be coming and that's not a bad name

The ball feels very condition specific for me, if it's not right the ball either goes way to early or it rolls out in About the first 15 feet and has nothing left at the break point to come back. It feels way to inconsistent for me

If you want a different look from a solid, maybe a Wipe Out. If not, I think the Hy-Road is more versatile than the solid.

I would personally play with the surface prior to investing in a new ball. If after a few surface attempts and you do not see the results you want, invest in something else.

The symptoms you are describing about it rolling out and hooking in the first 15 feet would lead toward putting a surface on the ball to allow it to skid more up front. Personally, with stronger equipment I like to put 500/polish. That generally works for me.

If you do not have access to a spinner, I would suggest your first step to be putting a decent amount of polish on and trying it out.

Thanks for the advice guys, I played around with the surface and found out that 3000 works great for me and what I want. It's still more than my IQ and gets through the front of the lane much better now. I also think one of the things that was causing me to see this was just my center in general. The ball works really good at other places for tournaments when I go. I also don't know and I don't know why, but while practicing on the Sydney pattern I was able to stand 12 and go up 5 with it and it worked somehow
