The New Storm Gravity Evolve brings back the super-popular Shape-Lock HD core that was featured on the Virtual Gravity and Gravity Nano. They decided to team up this legendary core with the SPEC cover that was featured on the Crux Prime and Pro-Motion. The result is the same strong performance that the VG and Nano dominated the market with teamed up with a current cover that has been a proven performer.
This ball may be the most consistent piece I've ever thrown at reading the midlane. The advantage that motion gives you on challenging oil patterns is immeasurable. The Crux Prime in my opinion is easily the strongest ball in over-all motion on the market. The down-side is that rev-dominant players have difficulty finding enough volume of oil to use it. The Gravity Evolve is much smoother down-lane which keeps the ball in play on many more conditions.
The greatest use on THS is in controlling the back-end. When your ball wants to over-finish coming off the dry it makes your carry inconsistent and makes your misses a disaster. The ball has to slow down in order to achieve ideal carry. Some very cliffed shots cause the ball to react so hard off the dry that the angles give you so much less room to hit the pocket and carry. The Gravity Evolve gives you a great foot-print in the oil helping to prevent the over/under that you feel when bowling on those patterns that have a drastic ratio.
The cover out of box is very early but responds very well to surface changes. Bringing up the surface to 3000 or 4000 or even adding polish can really help tailor where this ball makes its move and where it uses it's energy. The result is a ball that gives you the strength that we have come to expect from the SPEC cover but is useful on a multitude of conditions.â€
