Title: Rolling out?
Post by: snowspike1 on September 11, 2009, 10:04:30 AM
This morning in my first (day) of winter league (9:00am) was bowling pretty good and then a guy i used to team with asked what ball i was throw'n because it was rolling out.

I was thrown the VE and during my summer league i noticed it hooks earlier than my other equip. It is the only ball i have that sports a pin down drilling.

I let his comment get to me for a few frames and then changed balls..(bad mistake on both parts). I went back to the VE for the 3rd game and threw the front 7 followed by a 2-8 spared,X,2-8, pocket 7-10..

game 1 218 (tanked the 10th greek church-> chopped the 10 off)
game 2 167 (switched balls -- too oily for toxic)
game 3 256 (went back to origanl marks and brought speed up)

another words should i worry about the rolling out (thought about haveing ball taken to 2000 to get some leangth)?

Some of the best carry occurs when the ball stops about 3 feet before the pocket. Sooner than that could be DOA. As long as you're carrying, it isn't a problem!

Yeah, don't argue the results...  Use the ball that works.  When it stops carrying &/or reacting the way you want it to, then make a switch or make a move in.  JMO.

I guess it is symantics b/c when you are carrying its called hook set and if you are leaving weak tens then it is rolling out.

Take a look at Chris Barnes.  He hook sets quit a bit and he is tearing up the tour.

Bottom line, if you are carrying hook set all you want.

Sometimes bowlers will use head games to mess with other people if they see they are bowling well.

The goal is to knock ten down with as few shots as possible. Carry is about the angle the ball is entering the pocket, kick plate strength, flat gutter installs, alot of different variables that doesn't always account for correct ball roll through the pins on off pocket hits.
