I think I killed my Triple X. One day I was at a sport shot tourney and sanded it down with a green scotchbrite, then had it polished back to 1000, and its never been the same. Im not totally sure of the box finish but it was higher then a 1000 (I THINK). Now this ball isnt really much more then a dry lane ball for me! NOOOOO! I did the hot bath treatment and everything, to no avail. Now again, I THINK its dead, but Im not sure. Any suggestions? And I know its not burning up because it doesnt hook on any shot I throw it on basically. Last night I was standing on 30 throwing my Green Gargoyle out to around 5 at about 16.5-17 mph on Quabica(sp?), and it was coming back strong, and the triple x was going up 5. Help me out guys, and what is the box finish for the Triple X anyways? I may just have it polished to high, and Im too dumb to realize it. (dont be harsh, im too sensitive lol)

Scuff it or resurface it lightly to remove all the polish.
Clean it again with ball cleaner.
Then finish to the box finish you would like again.
Use Polish Sparingly! You don't have to dump it on.

I just got a Triple X in a trade. I contacted Storm on the sanding & polishing of this ball. This is a copy of the E-Mail they sent me:

Hi Jim,
 
You can use Step 2 to achieve a factory finish, first sand the ball with 400 grit sandpaper then polish with your Step 2.

The first thing I'd do is re-sand the surface to 600 grit to remove the polish.  Then give it a good cleaning.  Simple Green, Liquid Nitro... Then put a LIGHT coat of polish on the ball.  Some proshops use a ton of polish and really burn it into the cover.  It makes the ball look pretty, but you end up with an expensive spare ball.

Strider, Storm recommends sanding to 400 and then using Storm Step 2 Polish. (See above)

Well the scuffing I did myself, with a green scotchbrite. I do it the way that was suggested a while ago to me, to do small sections at a time, and sand in circles. The polishing I had done at a pro shop. I took the ball out last night, and it seems to work well on light/choppy patterns. I threw it on a shot that was oiled in the morning and had open bowlers all day on it, and it was pretty good. Shot my best game in a while with it, but none the less its still a LOT weaker then when I got it.
