RG =  2.565
RG DIff = .055

See http://www.stormbowling.com/htm/main4x.htm

Length in box form was minimal - it was Wet sanded to 600 grit. The ball went no where for me. I sanded mine to 1200 (VERY difficult as this urethane is HARD!!), then I polished it to 3000 girt. The ball hooked a LOT! Veyr good control, never snappy or flippy, but so much hook.

Personally I tried the TF Pro which had a much milder core; it still hooked far too much.

I concur.  In box surface, it rolls really early.  I like mine at 1000 grit matte.  It gets into a good midlane roll and arcs really hard on the back end.  I typically use mine as a control ball for spotty medium conditions.  Very consistant move.  Never over-under, and it hits well.

One other thing:

If I had one drilled with the PIN above the ring finger and CG kicked out to the right about 1", would it handle any carrydown?

I'm basically needing another carrydown ball. I've got a ball for the upper Medium's (not Heavy Oil) with Carrydown, and now I'm needing a ball for the lower Medium's with Carrydown and/or Medium-Dry with Carrydown.

Basically, when the heads are starting to go just a tad bit and when Carrydown is starting to appear.

I need something with some length and a big backend! And with the RG being 2.565 and the RG DIff being .055, it seems like this may work. Though I might have to sand the ball up to 1500 or 2000.

What do you think?

PS... Some have said that it rolls early, but on the following link, it says that the ball is for medium to light oil.

Ric,

As to whether or not it can handle the carrydown will depend on all the factors involved. Its stock cover is 600 grit dull; although it is urethane, that cover is very hard. It did handle carrydown, in both dull and in polished form for me. With its stock cover you do NOT need to kick out the CG. This ball is not a resin and does not act like one until you put a gloss polish on it. I suspect you will not do that.

It is a urethane with tons of flare; think of it as a particle ball, IF YOU KEPP IT AT 600 or maybe even at 1000 grit dull. It will try to go into a roll fairly early.

Having owned a TF and TF Pro, I would not be personaly inclined to placing the pin above the bridge unless I intended to polish it up a lot. Remember that placing the pin above the bridge is just a way of increasing the RG of the drilled ball, which, in turn, increases the length and reduces the hook transition phase time.

I had bought it a ball for medium to medium light conditions. It turned out to be for medium-heavy oil patterns. Once I sanded it to 1000 grit and polished it to 300 grit, I found it barely useful for medium oil. (FYI I use a Lane#1 Pro Purple Buzzsaw, a particle pearl, and Track VooDoo for medium heavy oil.)

Okay - Thanks for the help!

It sounds like that ball might not get thru the heads too great, to be used on Medium to Medium/Dry with Carrydown.

Someone at my local bowling center has got an Ebonite Afterburner with a 4.5" Pin Placement that he would sell me. It's drilled with the PIN up above the fingers about 2" on the center line and the CG is right dead center in the palm, with no weight hole. It's polished to about 2000-2500.

Would this ball fit the bill for Medium to Medium/Dry with Carrydown?

Thanks!
