Second Dimension at 2000 abralon?
« on: July 09, 2010, 09:34:27 PM »
Thinking of taking the surface down on my 2D from 4000 to 2000. I'd like to use it for when my home center decides to put more oil down. I save my Invasion for tournaments. Has anyone tried their 2D at 2000? My Mutant Cell Pearl, Tropical Heat, Wild Thing, Pure Swing, Backlash, etc wouldn't be good for that "med/hvy" spot and have found that in my Friday morning league, none of them are strong enough.

When I tried my 2nd Dimension at 2000 abralon, it was a little too early.  I added a very light coat of polish to get the ball to retain some energy, and now it's much more useful.  It was pretty much the only ball I used on the Scorpion pattern in my PBA Experience league a few weeks ago (and the Scorpion has a pretty high volume of oil nowadays), and had pretty much the best ball reaction I've ever had on a flatter, slicker shot (I even threw 12 in a row over two games with it!)

Same experience. Found that it needed a bit of polish or it was too early.

I really liked mine when I knocked the shine off it by hand with a 2000 abralon pad. I agree though that it made the ball quite early but that was a good thing for me at the time as it allowed me to have a stronger and earlier ball than my Hy-Road.
