Ball to fit under Domination
« on: January 23, 2008, 07:25:46 AM »
Hey everyone im looking to buy a ball that would fit nicely under my domination when it begins to hit high or go through the nose. I throw 13.5 mph, med-high revs, feet start on 2nd dot on the left, and throw over between 3rd and 4th arrow. So any ball that I could use this deep when the lanes break down would be great.

t-road pearl, thunderstruck pearl, spit fire, sure fire or even a jolt pearl would be good balls to think about.

I love the spit fire it is the best ball iv ever thrown, it is less argressive, then the domination but rolls earler if that makes any sence. But i have uses for them both.

It's great to buy a new ball - but when the ball starts to go high, learn how to move your feet and play the oil. It's a lot cheaper, and easier to carry.

well that is usually my move mumzie, but i already play around 4th arrow and at times have had to loft the gutter to stay on the right side.

Well I was looking into the fired up because of the long and strong reaction and the reactor cover, which I like alot. Does anyone know a website were i can find one new?

Gene,

The Domination has the Reactor pearl cover on it.
To "shell" down, you would want to drop to a Jolt pearl (Accu-tread pearl cover). This would give you a weaker cover and core so as to not read the dry as quick.
If you wanted to stay with the same cover, you might want to try a Thunderstruck pearl. This will give you a higher Rg symmetrical core so as to not have as much change of direction as early on the lane.

The T-Road pearl ( R 2 S  pearl cover), and Gravity shift (R 2 X pearl) both have stronger covers.

If you're looking for more length when the heads start to go, I'd say a Thunderstruck Pearl would be a good choice, same coverstock with a Higher RG core to get down the lane a little further.

I would look into the agent, thunderstruck pearl, or spitfire but i have heard and seen that they are more rolly than most pearls, would i be able to create enough recovery when playing a deep line such as 4th or 5th arrow with these balls?

Man, I would not put an Agent on your hand in this scenario. You mentioned the Fired Up, they are tough to find, I lucked into my 3rd one that I just got. Someone commented the T-Road Pearl is a stronger cover but it gives you a lot of what you are looking for in this thread. Clean in the fronts and can recover at the back to give you the angle to carry. FYI...ThunderStruck Pearl is like a toned down Fired Up. Spit Fire is a good choice too because it will help "blend" the lane down and give you a ball that's easy to read. Unlike its big brother the Fired Up, the Spit Fire is not going to slam off the dry as hard but don't mistake that as the ball is going to be weak. It will come back! A Storm ball that does not say Storm you might like in the Roto Grip Neptune.

Good luck!

The Spit Fire is a great ball, but I have found that it is not at it's best when getting in on a lane. Because of the smoother reaction, the ball has a tendency to leave single pins once you move in. I have drilled three for myself, all with different layouts, and a few for other players, and found that this balls strength is being able to go up the boards, and bumbing the dry, not hooking to the dry like say from fourth arrow.
The T-Road pearl is a good choice for playing in, I agree; You may not see that much difference from the Domination, though.
Don't let the numbers fool you on the T-Roads, they are very strong balls, even though they are mid-priced symmetrical.

Sorry for the double post, but I wanted to add to the last post that Gene said he only throws the ball 13.5 mph. Because his ball speed is so soft, the stronger covers will read earlier, and be counter productive.
