Dead Passion?
« on: February 21, 2007, 04:19:29 PM »
hey guys/gals,

my "aresenal" is small but lately it's very lacking. i currently own a domination and a passion, aswell as a spare ball. now, my understand is that the passion is a more aggressive ball, plus it was drilled a lot more aggressive then my domination. i got the passion resurfaced and i know that oob its 500grit, but my pro shop sanded it to 400, i didnt think it would make a diff. it seems over the past few weeks that this ball just doesnt move anymore. my domination has a lot more hook and it seems that what backend the passion once had, barely has anything now. now, would an oob passion have anywhere close to as much backend or overall reaction as a domination? should i try gettin the passion polished to bring it up to a domination type ball (straight thru the heads and more backend)? im running out of ideas, the thing is lacking and ive only has it for maybe 150-200 games, and its been resurfaced a month and a half ago.

Hater Water Bath along with... OIL!!! Your ball is more than likely burning up before its getting down the lane. Hope this helps.

Yeah, what he said. I'd have it taken back to 500, or even 1000! To much surface to early is causing it to loose to much energy in the front part of the lane.

My friend has way more games than that on his Passion and it is still rocking.  They are right though, that ball needs some oil to really shine.  Keep in mind that you bought a heavy oil ball in the Passion.  If the ball is burning up, you probably would want them to take it up to a higher grit or put a matte finish on it or something.

Also, I am not sure if the Passion is supposed to have the same backend reaction as the Domination.  I don't know much about the Domination, but I thought it was supposed to be a "big backend" ball.

Either a bucket tour to extract the oil, or just try a higher grit finish on the ball. OOB, it will surely need head oil to work properly, and once it has not enough oil left, it will not hook anymore properly, lose energy and hit like crap. But it is not the ball in itself - it will just "need" oil.

I sort of had a similar situation with my Passion about 2 weeks ago. It was soaked in oil and after giving it a hot water bath it's JUST like new. I hit it with a 500 Abralon pad, hot water bath, and it's back to tip-top shape. Took me a bit to get used to that OOB reaction again, b/c when it was shined up it was a lot different...but man it was so easy to string strikes again I hope you get yours fixed, I love the Passion. Good luck!
