This thread is example one of why running a pro shop is a gigantic headache now with the internet....

Mike is going to walk into a pro shop with a Super Natural wanting it to replace a TRP....and the poor pro shop operator will have no chance of making him happy.  In the end he will think something was drilled wrong because it doesn't do what the videos showed.

I'm not a moron about bowling balls. I know the reaction I want, I see what the video shows with the layout they used. Do I expect exact results between the TRP and the SuperNatural? No way. The TRP will always have a slightly sharper back end over the Hybrid Urethane.

I can't tell you what a higher or lower RG will do or what the term Differential  means but that doesn't mean I can't layout a ball to do what I wanted it to do.

I'll be just fine.

Mike I didn't say you were a moron, but again you're saying the TRP will have a slightly sharper breakpoint....that is a horrible understatement.  The difference in these two balls may very well be 2 arrows of overall hook.

Best of luck, I hope it works out.

I'm looking for similar hooking shape that my T-Road Pearl has. That ball was/is the weakest ball in my bag. Pin over bridge cg stacked. I got about 10-15 boards total hook. Everyone keeps telling me that the T-Road Pearl is a very strong pearl reactive, I never saw it! Even when I got it back in '08 with 25 games or so on it this ball never would hook more then 15 boards.

It sounds crazy that I'm looking to replace a "strong" pearl reactive ball with a urethane hybrid ball but I feel confident that is going to be the right ball for what I'm looking for. It could be possible for the Supernatural to be stronger then my T-Road Pearl ever was.

I should add, my T-Road Pearl plays that line in the video easily, in fact, it's at home playing that line!

Russell,
This post says it all. "The ball would never hook more than the 15 boards", what? Thats 3 whole arrows, yet he thinks a Supernatural could be stonger? Im lost.

With my slow ball speed, this ball could be money! It could be nice to target outside 20 for a change.

Mike as a pro shop operator I also have to agree with Charlest and Russell. The SuperNatural shown in the video has a strong layout, bowling on semi short oil, and is hooking about 10 boards (7 at the arrows, 17 at the pocket).

If you saw 15 boards total hook with the TRP that is 5 more boards....a full arrow stronger. Also, shape will be considerably different due to cover type and core specs.  But good luck with it....I hope it works out for you. It might move you right and into a more comfortable part of the lane, but I never, never recommend urethane to anyone. I can put you in a resin with the proper layout if you want to play straighter.

My TRP has never had a ton of hook from day one. Even on the lighter house shots this ball barely wants to hook. My Storm Natural is almost as strong as my TRP is and this is why I firmly believe that the Super Natural would be perfect or very close in ball motion down lane, will it carry? Hard to say as I do have carry issues with both TRP and Natural.

I have the Natural and since the center I bowl at has been increasing their volume of oil to satisfy the guys with the stronger new releases it has seen very little use as a result.

If the solid Natural isn't enough ball, why do you think that a hybrid version of urethane would be enough? The pearl Natural doesn't really cover anymore boards than the solid, just changes direction out of the oil, SLIGHTLY more. A hybrid version will fall some where in the middle of the two.

Best of luck, it sounds like you know what you want. I suggest drilling it to the max with something like a 3 3/8 x 3 3/8 x 2, full leverage.

Tommy, the cover on the Super Natural isn't the same as the other two Naturals so the comparison may not exactly be apples to apples.

J_Mac,

It's still a urethane base. You are not going to get urethane to "react" like reactive without the added reactive materials. There is only so much you can do with the base urethane material.

Supernatural,

I can't find on Storm's site, or anywhere.  Hybrid?/Urethane.

As a pretty decent size thrower of total hook, I can say I throw on a shot very similar to this video and do fairly well with a Roto grip Sonic X solid.

Similar to the slightly stronger Roto Shout of today.

I also have a strongly drilled Storm Natural.  It hooks, doesn't usually have much backend and is very sensitive to and creates carrydown.  Great for smoothing out a wet dry in practice, great for 7 pins for this lefty, and great for picking up double wood.

I like it and still am waiting for a time it will outperform my reactives for strikes.  Have many happy uses for mine but striking is not it's strongest suit!

Again, I have been told I create a lot of  backend reaction.  When I bowl in tournaments I am often as deep as just about any lefty I have personally bowled with(trying to reduce), and those Urethanes on the left just usually create a very rounded slow slurve for me!

Let me be clear... unless you or anyone else has inside information we all have the right to speculate on the difference between U2S and U3S.

If U1S is more controllable than U2S what's to say that a step in the other direction responds to friction a little more "violently"?

I vaguely remember a ball that Storm released where the coverstock was the result of mixing a urethane batch and reactive urethane batch and they never managed to re-create that...

FWIW, the info that leaked may have been misinformation anyhow since a little birdy told me they were trying to patch up an info leak.

LL, it'll be out April/May...
