Title: Storm Code Black

Radial Accelerating Disk technology dates back several generations with hints of it that can be found in the RAD4 Core. It features an extremely dense modified disc shape that generates substantial torque. So much torque, it reigns supreme at the top of the Premier line with a differential higher than any other ball in its class. When primed at 1500-grit polished, the shape the Code Black creates is nothing short of that unmistakable Storm backend charge.

I like it. Here's a picture from the Singapore release, but it looks exactly the same from what I can tell:

First Storm USA goes back 6 months for the Snap Lock (January 2016 release); now they go back 3+ years for the Code Black which was a summer 2013 Japan release... great ball though  8)

Best part about this release is the RAD4 core with R2S. I'm not sold on the R4S formulation yet. R3S does pretty well, but R2S is pure gold

This is one of Belmo's favorite balls of all time. I'm sure he had a huge influence in getting this as a stateside/PBA approved release.

Will the name sell the ball or will the performance on the lanes do the selling?

Black bowling balls are typically money.

It's certainly a strange option to come out right after the Snap Lock in their top line. I'm still betting on the Nano Lock being their March(ish) release.

CZ,

I don't think so. I have the Code Star (same cover, core and numbers as the Code Black), and have thrown a well fitting Snap Lock (layouts are close but not the same) and i think they're going to be a great compliment to each other. Both are clean thru the fronts and have a very nice back end, but, the Snap will handle a little more oil then the Code.
For any weekend warrior these two balls, properly laid out to "compliment" each other, are going to be awesome! Add a Lock or Alpha Crux to the mix and you got a great one-two-three punch!

Because it's the strongest core in production for Storm at the moment and has a strong cover on it?  It should outhook the Snap Lock . . and for a pearl, that's no mean feat.

I question it because while its a strong core, its rocking a 1500 Grit Polished R2S Pearl coverstock and Storm has marked the price cards as showing Medium-Heavy.
