Weight Block: Shape-Lockâ„¢ HD Core
Color Blackout
Finish 1000 Grit step 2
Layout 45x4 3/8x45 or 4 3/8x4x2 3/4
Bowler Specs:
Right Hand. PAP 3 11/16 Over 1 up
Rev Rate 400
Speed at release 17.5
The Storm Virtual Energy Blackout is the newest ball in the signature line. Returning is the Shape-Lock HD core from the original releases of the energy. This is one of the strongest cores that Storm has created. This ball has the ReX pearl cover that is half nano and half reactor. This creates an earlier reaction compared to R2 but not as early as NeX. This is going to be a ball that is going to read earlier but maintain a strong arc on the backend. This ball will be something that will be stronger than an Absolute but will be a great step down from the DNA. This ball is going to fit all bowlers. If you are higher rev rate and lower ball speed this ball is going to be a great first ball option. For lower ball speed or lower rev rate this ball is going to be a great transition ball and takes well to surface changes. Get yours today at your local Storm VIP pro shop.

Hey everyone, I'm back with another ball review, and this time it's for the Storm Virtual Energy Blackout!

In 14 pounds this ball is wrapped in REX Pearl Cover and comes with a Reacta Gloss finish and an RG of 2.53, Diff of .050, and a PSA of .011.

The newest Signature line ball brings us to a blast from the past. The Virtual Energy was a iconic ball from Storm and now we have the new Virtual Gravity Blackout by Storm. This ball is very clean and may need the reacta gloss scuffed a tad. I find myself using this ball in game three of league after using a ball like the Pi from 900 Global. The scent on this ball is Orange Pop and boy does it. I see the skid/flip on this ball and when this ball sees friction it will move and be round, but will not be the hockey stick motion.

The Storm Virtual Energy Blackout features a very strong Shape-Lock HD Core, which certainly has a lot of flare potential. The ReX coverstock creates a very solid front-to-back- ball reaction. I do believe this Virtual Energy Blackout creates a bowling ball motion that not many other SPI balls do.

Core numbers and the type of coverstock leads to believe that the Virtual Energy Blackout could be an alternative to the Dark Code, so I drilled my Virtual Energy Blackout with the same pin-down layout: 55 x 5 x 75. The Virtual Energy Blackout requires friction to be most effective. I do like the smooth and round ball motion that this bowling ball can create. I do find the Virtual Energy Blackout to be slightly less responsive to the friction than my Dark Code.

In my opinion, the Virtual Energy Blackout is best when bowling on medium length oil patterns where the launch angles need to be a little more open. I think players that bowl on center with high friction lane panels can truly take advantage of this coverstock. This bowling ball can be a good connection between the dull/strong asymmetrical and cleaner/weaker symmetrical bowling balls. I am looking forward to using the Virtual Energy Blackout in the upcoming tournaments.

Highly Anticipated Ball Alert… Virtual Energy Black Out!  The ShapeLock HD core combined with the ReX cover gives a motion that is familiar and is a breath of fresh air!  Already a ball that has won plenty…including the US Open.  Usually I would not say that this kind of ball would be good on patterns like the ones found at the US Open but, the fact is that just exaggerates this ball’s versatility! What stands out the most about the VEBO is how effortlessly this ball gets through the fronts.  With the aging lane beds across the country, this ball does not give up hits because of early hook!  The ShapeLock HD core found in the original Virtual Gravity provides a strong motion down lane this is a must in everyone’s bag!  Plus, black balls roll best!

Layout of my VEBO: 5x4x2

Balls Currently getting play:
Absolute Power: 5x4x2
Summit Peak: 5x4x2
Zen Gold Label- 5x5x2 (pin up) box surface
Zen Gold Label- 4.5x4.5x3.75 (pin down) 3k surface
