Initial impressions of the Sure Lock vs the Alpha Crux
« on: April 09, 2017, 11:39:21 PM »
I'm interested in people's initial impressions comparing the Sure Lock to the Alpha Crux.  Things such as comparative length, strength, angularity and midlane read.  Thanks in advance for the feedback.

I do have  the Alpha Crux and have used it extensively, and have not yet tried the Sure Lock. But based on that, and having read/viewed a LOT of reviews on both, I would say they are close, the Sure Lock can be expected to hook a lot more and otherwise perform similarly on the same lane conditions. I think the Catalyst Core of the Crux series is just a little stronger than the RAD-X core of the Lock series. For me it's stronger core over a little more hook, but I may eventually get a Sure Lock anyway. But I still think the Crux Pearl hits a little harder than the Snap Lock, a contention I suspect others will disagree with, so I"d say by just a little, Alpha Crux over the Sure Lock. But I'm sure there are big fans of the Lock series who will rate it higher than the Crux series.

Personally, I think the Sure Lock is the second strongest if not the strongest ball on the market. Reminds me of the Virtual Gravity Nano, but not quite as flippy. The Alpha is a really good front to back ball in my opinion. I like stuff like that, but the public usually doesn't.

I've got both the Alpha Crux and the Sure Lock.  However, I only have 4 games on the Sure Lock on a heavy (28.6 ml) 45 ft sport shot - so I can't say I know the Sure Lock inside and out.  With that said though, the Sure Lock was my ball of choice over the Alpha Crux for that pattern as the Alpha Crux was not getting into a roll quick enough to get to the pocket and carry effectively.  In addition, the Alpha Crux was at a hand sanded 1000 grit and the Sure Lock was OOB at 2000 grit.  The Alpha does not have many games and has had an oil extraction recently so I do not believe it's performance has diminished too much from being NIB.  Based on this, I would say the Sure Lock is more ball (as should be expected).
