Storm Victory Road Pearl Opinions
« on: February 28, 2012, 01:40:11 AM »
So i've ordered a Victory Road Pearl after seeing so many good comments about it.

For those who have one, how do you like it and what conditions do you see??

It's a great ball for opening the lane up.  Glides through the fronts clean and stores energy as well as any midline ball available.  It's a phenomenal step down ball from a Hyroad or any strong solid cover.

My Victory Road Pearl is very smooth through the heads as Russell mentioned and has a late read and an aggressive break off the dry.    I found mine to work best on well defined break points and less well when carry down is an issue.

Thx guys.  I'm a low tilt, more up the back player so getting down lane clean is a nice characteristic in a ball for me..

My Wednesday THS is def medium with some backends that have enough friction, I LOVE my anaconda and Massive Damage, but sometimes they can be a bit early.

Should hopefully be a good option on those tournament shots playing 18-20 out to 7ish on the breakdown.

From what i've read (and I have perspective that we all throw it different and see different conditions) it's a really really really good piece.

The victory road pearl will eventually be one of the best storm balls ever produced, such as balls like the Hyroad for instance.... Some balls just refuse to rev up where as this one revs up so good going down the lane. Makes the strokers even look like crankers at times.

I cant say enough about it. i have thrown thousands of balls and this one may just be the best one I have ever thrown and that says alot. John

I use the VR on SPL amf lane surface at 39' in length, and though the volume/units are on the low side, there's a slight OB outside 5.

The VR is one ball that I can just get aggressive with. There are times I stand up at the foul line thinking I just blew by the spot, but all of a sudden it makes that hockey stick turn to the pocket. And one thing that I like about this ball, compared to other pearls that I've used in the past, is the over/under reactions are at a minimal, or not at all.

I'm a high tracker with 10* tilt and throw up the back....

Years ago I had a Depth Charge of which I loved that reacted for me the way some of you describe the Victory Road. I haven't seen the Victory Road, but of those of you that have and remember the Depth Charge, is there any similarities between the Depth Charge and the Victory road?

Simply put, no. The DC was much earlier and much smoother. The VR is longer, stronger, and far more continuation. Other than that, theres no difference.

Russell drilled me one of these yesterday.  It didn't take long to see that he was correct when he said this ball opens up the lane.  I was working on some release issues, but this ball recovers from areas that are usually completely out of play for me.

I've never been one of the guys to buy balls and put them away for later drillings, but when this one is discontinued I'll certainly entertain that thought!!!

Just get one, you won't be disappointed and they're not that expensive anyway...

i just had one drilled today, and got to throw it right after the sr. yaba league. had it drilled pin up above ring finger.

it cleared the heads just fine, and it makes a nice sudden move left once it hit dry, i moved inside, and it stored enough energy to move into the pocket, went down and in, and it moved even more sharper. i like the versatility and hitting power of this ball, great ball for the price, not as strong as my anarchy,  but more user friendly.

I have one of these drilled Rico and it's very clean and very strong on the back end.   I use it to open up the lane, even though it's a Rico layout.   I'm surprised at how much I can give the pocket away with it in this layout.

This is just one of those balls that gives you a consistent type of ball motion on a wide variety of layouts.    It's very easy to suit the layout to your release needs to enhance the built in ball motion.

I don't know if I should get another one with a different layout or get the solid. The VRP is just crazy good.

but, the last time I got two of the same balls, (hyroad) I was disappointed...loved one, but hated the other...

I have, it's been a while since i've thrown a storm piece, so as long as I like this one I would still consider more.  I'm picking it up today.

What kind of prices is everyone B/M shops giving on these out of curiosity?
