Suggestion for a friend
« on: September 23, 2003, 06:45:01 PM »
We bowl on a medium fresh shot , huge top hat, 35 ft, practically no buff, screaming backends.

I bowl with a friend who has slow speed (12-13mph) and pretty good revs and is using a polished Duece but it's just too much.

I think he needs a pearl, because of his speed, he needs that help.....so,...

Would a Power Charge be a good choice, or a Hot Rod ??

Thanks

My wifes Hot Rod has more backend than her X-factor,
Just by watching her throw these two, I would say no to the H/R.

Short pattern, screaming backends, slow speed, decent revs, sounds like something pretty weak would be the ticket.  Wouldn't a pearl save up too much energy, and snap way too much for these conditions?  I'm not familliar with any of Storm's new line.  It would be a big step down, but I'd recommend a Roto Grip Sonic X Solid.

Thanks Strider, I was thinking about that too.....I've used that ball on this pattern and it works.....Yes a pearl may save up too much energy, but with the low rg and cg kicked out, it may work too.........

Thanks Bob, just afraid the Sonic Solid might not be enough over all.  Depends on what he wants to do....if he just wants to get something for THIS house, then I'd say sure, but if he wants something with a little more versatility, the others may work better......we'll see....thanks again

SL,
I was thinking about that (Barbed),...yes, it's the cover on the Big Hit solid, so yes it's weaker,...maybe, thanks for chiming in!

Jeff believe it or not thier is some guys @ my home house that use the core power hrg on a shot similar to what you described. This ball is an amazing piece of equipment,it has a good even roll and it is not real sensitive to the friction changes up front or on the back. You just cant go wrong with this ball on that type of shot.It is a particle pearl but doesnt roll like one.check out some of the reviews for it.http://www.ballreviews.com/Reviews/Reviews.asp?ManufacterID=11&BallID=307

Jeff thats what I was saying when it starts to roll it doesnt jump. The house I bowl at is dry on the back no buff at all you can go down to the end of the oil line and rub your finger acroos the lane and it will squeak,I know ive done it.The ball stores energy but it doesnt release it all at one time. You would just have to see the ball in action to understand it better. The only other thing I could suggest is a track magic if he dont mine throwing a different company's equip.
