Changing surface on new Hy Road

Just got a new Hy Road and took it out for a test drive yesterday.  After a few games I decided I don't really like the new 4000K Fast finish.  So, if I want to go back to the older surface of 1500 with polish, do I need to go lower than that and bring it up to 1500 or can I just put the 1500 over the 4000K then add polish?

Storm 1500 polish is not 1500 grit + polish

Storm's resurfacing guide says it's achieved with 4000 and applying their step 2 compound.

In my attempts to replicate, my best results were 3000 and a compound applied

Compound instead of polish?  Would polish work as well?

Excuse please.  Messed up my reply.  Could you use polish instead of compound?  What do you think might be the result of just going to 1500 grit and then polish?

I do not like the  4000k either I ordered a Hyped Pearl and it came with the 4000k and I have had the surface changed and will try it out tomorrow.

If memory serves, Storm 1500 polish is achieved by (per Storm literature)

Hard 500 Abralon (4 sides)
Light 1000 (as above)
Light 2000 (as above)
Light 4000 (as above)
Light Storm Step 2 Compound (as above)

Hi - Storm has 6 versions of the Hy-Road with the most current the Hy-Road Max, 2021.  Is this the ball that you are evaluating?   A ball, every ball, has certain basic engineering.  We, as the consumer, have to perform research to develop our purchase decision.  Your PSO should be able to assist you with your decision.  My review of the MAX is that it would not fit in to my arsenal.  See Bowling this  month!  By design it is an extremely weak ball and condition specific.  Is this what you expected?  All Hy-Road's have an RG 2.57 and a Differential of 0.046. This high RG is designed to push the ball down the lane.  The MAX out of the box grit  is at 3000.  All other Hy-Roads are at 1500 to 2000 grit.  I would change it to 1000 or 1500 with no polish.   Best of luck!  Coach Denny Gold Level ABE

I also think that a company that sells a product has the duty to advertise the correct surface of the ball and the label on the box should line up with what the surface is. In my case the ball was advertised as 1500polished and the label on the box reflected that, the problem being it came to me with the 4000k fast which I do not like and I do love the factory 1500 polished they used to sell. The same place that I purchased this ball now advertises the correct 4000k fast, which I do believe that I should have been notified with the option of leaving it at 4000k or having it changed to the 1500 polished. To me this seems like a rush spirit of the moment thing that was done by Storm and Roto Grip.

From what I found on line, they only have two versions as of this date.  They are the Hy-Road and the Hy-Road Pearl.  The one I have is the Hy-Road which I think is the original version.
